We talked about it a little bit when we showed off the teaser trailer over the weekend at Salute but yes, there is a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 around the corner! Right now though Games Workshop has also put together the book for Shadow War: Armageddon separate from the main game.

Shadow War Armageddon Book

This skirmish game, using the old Necromunda rules with a few updates and tweaks, has gone down a storm with folks. It's a great idea to change this to include the regular armies and factions of Warhammer 40,000. While it would have been nice to see gangs back on the tabletop it makes much more sense for them to draw on the range they already have.

Shadow War Armageddon (Game)

Maybe gangs are something we'll see Forge World look at in the future, or we'll see a limited release of their metal range over on the Games Workshop store with some rules in a future White Dwarf? It would be cool to see gangs fighting back against Imperial incursion into their territory.

It would be neat to hear what you guys think about Shadow War: Armageddon. Make sure to drop some thoughts in the comments below.

A New Edition

The big news was that there is indeed a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 on the cards. A new website accompanied the video at the top of the page.

The website goes into detail about the background, factions and future of the new edition and it looks like we'll be taking a step forward with this edition of the game.

For one it looks like we're getting the three ways to play they mentioned last time they teased changes to Warhammer 40,000. Matched, Open and Narrative play are the options giving anyone a chance to get stuck into the world. It worked for Age of Sigmar and the General's Handbook.

Additionally, it seems like we'll be getting annual updates to the game and a rules system which is accessible to newcomers and veterans. They have been working with the community to find out what YOU want which is great to hear.

For example, this was great to hear...

"Come on! This is New Games Workshop™

Seriously though, everything we're talking about now is just an extension of all the community engagement work we've been doing over this last year and a half. We've learned a lot from you guys and gals, and we've tried really hard to make sure everything you've asked for is included. And if we've missed something?

Drop us a line on the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page and let us know. We'll make sure your requests are given proper consideration."

So with a new edition around the corner do you think you'll be diving in and giving Warhammer 40,000 a go when it hits?

Let us know your thoughts below...
