A Roster Of Racers Hit The Tabletop Soon For Games Workshop’s Speed Freeks
October 12, 2018 by brennon
A lot of people are excited to see the release of Speed Freeks, the new Space Ork game from Games Workshop and this week saw a full preview of pretty much all of the vehicles you'll be seeing in this set and your games of Warhammer 40,000.
The most recent of the releases from Games Workshop is the Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy here. As you might have guessed by the range of different Squigs hopping around on the vehicle this is a vehicle which is all about launching these creatures at your opponents and letting them run amok, chewing up the drivers of the other vehicles.
As well as that awesome new vehicle we also have the...
Boomdakka Snazwagon
Deffkilla Wartrike
Kustom Boosta Blasta
Megatrakk Scrapjet
Shokkjump Dragsta
Each of the vehicles will be available to pre-order very soon from Games Workshop as part of the new boxed game and for use in your army of Orks in Warhammer 40,000. These are a much-needed update on the existing roster of vehicles for the Orks and whilst I still love some of their older miniatures its good to see them giving them something new to tinker with.
Watch out for more about Speed Freeks in the near future as I'm sure we're going to crack this out ourselves!
Will you be checking out Speed Freeks when it launches?

Great looking Orky cart’s for racing in the new game.
Still a “meh” from me… the design just doesn’t spark a Waaaagh in me. To round, to soft on the corners, not enough red and way not enough Dakka…. maybe when people do different paint jobs on it.
Agreed. These look too nice to be propa Ork vehicles! The CAD artist made a nice vehicle then orkified it, me ‘thinks! To me, they all look like they’re sitting on perfect little plots of land. They should have furrows for the front tires, thrown up grass and rough dirt on the vehicles. GW shouldn’t be afraid to make something eye popping! It’s too sterile in final execution, more ragged plates, more rust, use that ‘Eavy metal team!
Orktober is truly here! Those are some great looking Orky vehicles.
God, GWs names just get worse.
Amazing vehicles! The names don’t tickle my fancy, but who cares when the vehicles themselves look so good!
I don’t mind the non standard ork ramshackle look of these. They look much better then trash thrown together, which is awesome.
However, they have no place on any battle field. Maybe two of them look half way possible as an actual battle field vehicle. But the rest are completely stupid.
I think they took this boxset racing game much to far, and forgot that the ork players actually wanted 40k units.
I agree. I really like a couple of these, quite like most of the rest and don’t particularly like one of them. I think they’d all be fine in an ork racing game.
But I want some buggies I can use with my orks on the battlefield.
They do look great as a kit….and the squigg shooter on the first is funny. But still…way to clean and hi-tech like for Orks for my taste. Real Ork vehicles should look like you need all your guts to get in there (if you are not an Ork) because it obviously is not meant to keep together for long…and the entire thing IS a weapon. But GW seams to feel the need to make Orks more nice and clean…maybe even cartoony?!?
Liking the look of these even the Kultural references are possibly a little strong … as to the new truck “squeal squiggy” or is it more one for warboss Hogg, I do quiet like it though.
Probably giving speed freeks a miss unless the price is stand out, GW still has to sell me on their game craft.
I’ve no desire to pick up a 40k Ork army (not even a Kult of Speed) but I absolutely love these!
They all need red paint jobs though.
Some of them are “meh” for me : Deffkilla Wartrike and Shokkjump Dragsta but the rest are nice.
Curiously, GW seem to be changing the design of the Ork heads? Are we going to see Orks with less cartoony faces, and something more akin to how they looked in Rogue Trader, rough lookin’ orkoid/goblinoid gits?
I like the over all look of this. Just needs more red and mote dakka!
