40K “Prussonian” Astra Militarum Army VLOG Unveiled
April 12, 2018 by johnlyons
Hello everyone! It has been 4 months in the making, but finally, we can reveal to everyone our latest full 40K army project, the Prussonian Astra Militarum army!
For those of you who have not seen the project, we have an epic 39 part series on Backstage for you to check out! But here are some pictures to help wet your appetite for this monster of a project.
The noble cavalry moving forward while being supported by the faithful Prussonian infantry.
The company banner advancing to keep the troops rallied and motivated.
The vaunted Mecharius Vanquisher keeps an eye on the loyal son of Prussonia
For those armoured targets, the skilled Lascannon teams ready their weapons.
I think this picture captures the feel and look of the Prussonians on the field perfectly. I love seeing the pennants of the cavalry and the devotional papers on the side of the tank.
And of course, the Grenadiers. Probably my favorite unit in the army to convert and paint.
We are very proud of this army and it is thanks to feedback from our great community that this army is as good as it is!

Looks amazing, great job getting it completed you really accomplished something very cool.
Looks awesomesauce, @johnlyons. How does it feel to get the project completed? I know this one has been full of expansions and interruptions, but it feels like the results are more than worth the effort.
it’s strange to see this one finished. It’s been a constant for so long it’s odd knowing it’s completed.
Looks marvelous
Every time Warren says “we” replace that with John 😛
Congratulations, John! It’s wonderful to see the army finished and exceeding your original thoughts and vision. Well done, mate!
looks fantastic stunning job all over just two things @johnlyons love the WoT t-shirt, and are there any bristles left on my brush *peers*
I absolutely love the finish product. Three things that I hope happens as follows ups to the most inspiring of hobby projects:
1) That we see lets plays to help us inspire more lore;
2) That John complies a lore-dex from the material we have done on the forum;
3) that he returns (in a few months or years0 to the project to do some ambitious conversions vlogs on characters written up from the lore.
If you haven’t signed up to backstage do its worth just for this project!
Looks great!! It always feels so wonderful when an army is finally finished and you get to see it arrayed on the table for the first time! 🙂
Has the custom Battlefoam arrived yet? Would it be possible to talk you into one final VLOG where we could see how the army sits and looks in the foam?
After watching you complete the sheets for the custom foam, it would be great to see how that part of the project turned out.
Really great project, what a lovely unique army. I know this is the last thing you will want to hear but do you think you’ll be adding to it over time ? I’d love to see more tanks!
I’d love to see you guys do a let’s play with these.
It looks to me like this army has turned out really well. Now that i see the whole army together i’d say that pretty much the only thing that i think would make a great improvement to the overall look of the army is a greater sense of movement on the tank. Quite how this would be done i don’t know. I suppose the tracks would need to be ‘blurred’ in some way. I’ve been dipping in and out of this project and i think it is worth pointing out to any of you who haven’t seen any of the… Read more »
I am rather lost for words by your comment. I mean, you guys all helped me as much as you feel I’ve involved you. I don’t think this project would have been anywhere near as fun and enjoyable without the feedback and the conversations we shared. I am not a great painter, and i’ll never claim to be.. What I loved about the prussonians was that conversation, the advice, the enthusiasm and the confidence you all inspired in me to go the extra step every time. It means a lot. I will have to make sure I show the Primaris… Read more »
balls john they look fabulous.
I think you did show them next door to the astral knights when you were discussing basing John.
The Astral Knights were in the background in the two basing vlogs i’ve seen, but there isn’t a side by side comparison that i can recall.
This has been a monster of a proyect, but the results are unquestionable. Great job again John, you deserve all the praise.
Love the vlogs, keep the amazing job!
great work guys, John standing like a proud father hopping his kid does well in the races.
Very nice. I like them. do you plan to add more to it int the future? I think adding more to it would make it really awesome.
Purity seals on the cannons, yay! This army looks incredible all laid out, all the hard work definitely paid off. This series is well worth a watch, get yourself a backstage pass for it.
It’s great as is but if the weariness of a long project wears off I wouldn’t mind at all seeing them added to down the road, more horses are a must if so. You could also argue that with the imperium finding them again their love of cavalry would lead to heavy use of mechanized infantry units.
Great army John. Well done. I’ve been following along as life has allowed and I’m very pleased these made it all the way to the tabletop. I’d love to see how they go in a game.
Like @enginseer I’d be interested to see how your storage option works out. Perhaps you could show us what it looks like when the custom Battlefoam arrives.
A magnificent result that reflects beautifully the extra love and attention they were shown. a legendary project of epic proportions, well done John mate. the whole experience has been the new high point for the BoW hobby content. i have really enjoyed this project and the format. so much so i would like to see you take on one project a year like this, even if it’s over the course of a year in between other projects. if your keeping it 40k i would love to see a raging heroes army or horus heresy one. a necromuda gang of conversions… Read more »

Looking amazing! Great work John and we need to see them in use.
I’ve not commented on every episode of the Vlog, but I will now. It’s an absolutely fantastic army. Congrats John, it’s a genuine achievement!
Nice to see the army all together like this. Really inspiring me to get back into a 40k project.
Great work, the finished project looks fantastic and I’ve enjoyed following every vlog along the way. Learnt a lot as well, so thank you.
Brush bristles for vox antenna are a good idea, but 20# or heavier fishing line works pretty good, too. The idea is from a WWII tank modeler who posted on-line, and whose name and site elude me. Pretty unbreakable, even for Idoneth Deepkin.
Great work John! So inspiring! So, whats next? A 40Kified russian or french napoleonic army turned into Chaos Renegade Guardsmen and Cultists? That would be a fitting opponent. Dont you think so Warren?
That would be yet one more awesome vlog!
