The army is looking gorgeous, amazing job John. But, have I spotted some spare track parts unpainted in the back (the spikey thingys).
I know nothing about 40K and seals, but I think the weathering that has taken down the stark incredible blueness of the tank has been extremely effective. It took me a couple of moments to realize it was the same one in the video thumbnail. Well done!
Looks bloody impressive, the tank has really become a prizeworthy centerpiece for the army. As for the varnish I’d always do it before putting any grass/flock/foliage down, I didn’t once and it had a morning dew look to it after it all set up. You can always seal the greenery down with watered down PVA if you’re worried about its strength.
The weathering looks great on the tank. It’s sometimes difficult for me to keep up with watching the livestreams but I’m always checking in with you here on these shorter Vlogs.
Still with you John. It has been a great series.Tanks looking superb.
Getting so close now! I’d always varnish before adding any flock / tufts. Having said that, I also tend to add grit / rocks as part of assembly and paint them, so they get varnished with the model (gloss for strength followed by matte). Then flock / tufts are the last thing to be added.
I do hope we see a Let’s Play with this army at some stage, I think it would be quite a site on the battlefield!
I varnish anything that isn’t grassy/sponge-ish feeling. Sand, gravel etc would be fine but I’ve always had the suspicion the other basing materials wouldn’t behave. Mind you I haven’t been brave enough to just try it and see if that’s the case.
If you run into any more purity seals you could consider tossing some on the heavier gear like the cannons and flamers to further sell the devotional aspect of the army.
Very into this idea adding purity seals to the cannons and flamers would be look excellent, as well as pushing the devotional aspect further it would make the army even more 40k
I often varnish after basing, it will help keep the bases intact as well over time with play.
varnish after basing but before tufts
the army’s looking great john was thinking a 40K version of the universal carrier would fit in well with the rag tag sort of look to your units what do you think?
