Liking the Equestrian heritage backstory in the mane… some may complain until they’re hoarse that it inst “Grim Dark” enough but hey you can only lead people so far, you cannot always get them to drink…
That army is cantering along nicely, good to see you back in the saddle after that hard slog. The final furlong is almost in sight!
(apologies its been a long day and am watching a progress bar slowly fill!)
On a more serious note is there such a craftworld that is similar in colour to another Napoleonic key player? would be interesting to see if you could keep the theme going some how – I suppose the Biel Tan might look a bit Russian with the White and green, or maybe a brunswicker esk Ulthran hue. Ideally a French looking Craftworld might be interesting but that might be just more blue…
I dunno. If you were looking for contrast to the Napoleonic look, grasslands wouldn’t be it, I would think. Concrete, diamond plate, sewer caps, open pipework, asphalt (tarmac). In thinking for a juxtaposition to Napoleonics, I would look for more industrial bases.
Love the flower meadow idea.
I would put Tyranid parts on it.
Roots like in Stranger Things that are corrupting the planet. Than you can use your flamers to get rid of those corrupting roots and the Tyranid menace.
Make the Tyranid parts dark and slimy like in Sranger Things/Alien. It would make it stand out great against the meadow grass.
I really like the idea of a medowy/grassland setting for Prussonia. As you rightly said you’d struggle to keep horses on a world that doesn’t have an ability to feed them. The other options would be some sort of wheat/corn field type basing, but that could become unresonably tall against a foot soldier, or something very wet like paddy fields, which would keep the hight of basing materials down to knee hight and would give you a good oportunity for wet muddy effects. As for the defeated armies, that’s a great idea and would add to the 40k feel of… Read more »
The contrast with the old-fashioned uniforms is a great idea. As you’re going with Eldar gubbins, I’d suggest Biel Tan. They’re more neutrally coloured, so would reward the second glance more than shouting “LOL IT’S FULL OF ELDAR LIMBS!”
Just my 2p, they’re coming along very nicely.
I think your basing ideas are pretty cool, but I’m worried you might introduce too many colors. I’d recommend keeping the Eldar part color schemes simple, like a bone and/or green, so that they don’t distract from the Prussonians themselves : )
I know you don’t feel it but you have been making remarkable progress. I have long abandoned my 40K armies but am loving this series. Thanks for sharing all your hard work.
yeah massive progress 😀
I cant wait to see transfers applied to tank and banners it will look fantastic.
I suppose I may have had a much darker picture in my mind for the current state of Prussonia, much like the final moments of Tanith (just progressing much slower 😉 ) The world has been cut off from the rest of the Imperium by the Rift slashing through space. No supplies of any sort are making it in any meaningful quantity. Some troops don’t even have boots. A once verdant and lush planet has been scorched by the proximity of the rift. The “Stubborn 6th” are prepared to defend every last inch of ash-blasted desert that once was vast… Read more »
Hey man, I am actually really against the idea of a green field for these guys specifically I really loved the dracolich, but I think you have a specific problem here. Which, is your army is not a standard sci-fi army it is a converted army from the historical range. It gives you a specific problem, you want them to be specifically unrelated to the actual historical models. Not only that but there is also the problems future punk, alternate history, and dystopian games that you need to be distinct from. The Eldar thing is a good idea but can… Read more »
The Necrons are in at the moment what about setting them on a Necron world with a lot Metallica’s with glowing blues and greens objects? John.
I was thinking how great it would be if this army fought a Renegades and Heretics army, grimy and dirty to contrast with the wonderful bright colours – so perhaps the bases could be Blood Pact themed!
could i suggest 2 slightly different styles of basing. for larger bases of the cavalry and cannons do the meadow style with a few old waithbone debris. then for the troops bases use one of the cobblestone or aztek green stuff rollers. paint them like ruined waithbone and put clumps of meadow foliage on the bases to bring the 2 styles together. could say that there was an ancient pre human (possible eldar) ruins that the meadows have grown over(and possible helping the meadow survive the grim dark). think the contrasting bone white and greens would really contrast the army… Read more »
