Can’t wait to see all come together painting 😀
The pendants for the tank is a great idea.
Looking good!
I never thought scale weapons would be an issue. I mean, GW weapons are all oversized, so scale for them seems to be out the window by default. Looking good so far.
Looking really good so far, please can we get lots of images when it’s all been zenithed. As for the modelling the only things I would suggest would be to find something for the bottom of the lances, like the pommel off a sword’s hilt, and if you want to make the bayonets on the infantry look a bit more in scale just trim a little off from the finger guard at the base of the blade. When it comes to playing these guys the cavalry charge will be awesome but I’d let the line infantry deal with the squishy… Read more »
Good Stuff @johnlyons remember my horsie guys with chain swords! 🙂
The full units all with pennants flying are already showing some table presence, and as they get more and more unified with primer and paint, they’ll be steadily more impressive. I agree with the idea for a counterweight on the lances. A pommel will stop the lance from looking like it just… ends. That breaks the illusion and reminds the viewer that its just wire on a toy soldier. If cutting the pommels off swords would ruin too many bits, then you could use any of the infinite skulls that the Imperium provides. 😉 A skull as pommel on the… Read more »
I forgot about the skull factor. I have shamed my 40k viewers by this admission 😛
Looking good, John!
Hi John
I know that the Front Rank infantry works out at about £1.20 per figure. Do you think the cost of the figures against the time taken on the conversions is making it a worthwhile cost effective project?
Well, if you were to do this size of a force of actual Death Corp models you may be looking at £500 plus for the same amount of models.
And the force wouldn’t be unique 🙂
Bloody Hell.Thats a lot!
I agree the conversion has a worth of itself. Difficult to evaluate that against the material cost of the models.
Coolness knows no cost 😉 😛
they are coming along nicely.
I love the look of them! Good thing you kept the pennants. They are so menacing when they come charging like that. Well done.
I rather like the look of the Calvary.
The biggest worry I would have is how secure the little plastic lasgun bits on the end of the guns will be. When Warren gets too excited and starts making pew pew noises, I fear repairs will be in order!!!!
Also for the cabling, I remember seeing little “tools”, essentially moulded plastic, that allow you to roll thin pieces of green stuff over to give you great looking ripped cabling.
I think I remeber them being one of the tools John showed off in a past weekender, not 100% sure but look on greenstuffworld.
magnificent
The cavalry looks great. I like the long, flowing banners from a visual standpoint. Even if they would be impractical in actual combat.
A great looking force and very I image, now all we need is a valley and some artillery guns.
Really like the lasgun conversion and feel that it really helps set these guys in 40k.
I think while the bayonets are a little large it will fit nicely in the heroic scale of 40k.
Avoid template weapons!…. oh wait… nevermind 😛
The 18 Space Marine daggers aka Guardsman Long-swords are a bit long, but I think Vostroyans have a sizeable bayonet as well.
