New Warhammer 40,000 Battleforce Army Boxes Incoming
November 17, 2020 by brennon
Games Workshop has been showing off the New Battleforce Sets which are going to be landing for the Grimdark Future and the Mortal Realms over the next few weeks. We're starting off with what's new for Warhammer 40,000 with big boxed sets for a selection of fine forces.
Space Marines Interdiction Force // Warhammer 40,000

Leading the way, we have the Space Marines Interdiction Force which comes with a whole host of Primaris Space Marines who are experts at working behind enemy lines. It might not look like it, but these Space Marines are able to slip through the shadows and deal a killer blow to the enemy from where they least expect it. They do all of that whilst looking very cool too.
You might like the idea of power armoured supersoldiers from the far future but don't really like the idea of playing as the good guys. Well, you could also go with this Chaos Space Marine Decimation Warband.

This new set comes with some of the cool looking and updated miniatures for the Chaos Space Marines with Terminators, a Havoc Squad and more. You also get that excellent Chaos Space Marine character to lead the way from the Blackstone Fortress boxed set. This might be a lot of fun to paint if you don't mind working on all that armour detail!
Defending the planets of the Imperium is a full-time job and a lot of the time it is given over to the likes of the Astra Militarum Bastion Platoon here.

This set seems like it's built to be defensive with a selection of heavy weapons, a Chimera to clamber inside and a rather funky looking piece of artillery to fire upon your foes from afar. It also comes with a Sentinel which has always been one of my favourite miniatures from the Astra Militarum range.
The Xenos Hordes
As well as the forces of Chaos and the Imperium we also have a few new sets for Xenos collectors too. You can pick up the Necrons Eradication Legion if you want to take the next step beyond Indomitus for example.

Keeping the T'au Empire going, we also have this Starpulse Cadre which gives you a pretty mobile-looking T'au force to use on the tabletop.

T'au Empire was my force of choice for many, many years and I still love the look and feel of their army. I think it would be fun to revisit it them with their array of special weapons and an aesthetic which still stands apart from a lot of the other races in Warhammer 40,000. It would certainly be a nice antidote to all that grim and battered armour.
Finally, we also have this rather epic looking Tyranids Brood Swarm. This seems like it could be a fun set to paint if you're really into your Contrast!

You could probably make this army look exceptionally good in a relatively short amount of time thanks to Contrast. I think that particular paint line is superb for working on organic miniatures like these and it should allow you to tackle some of these bigger beasts without too much hassle.
Blood Angels Combat Patrol
As well as all of the new Battleforce Sets you will also be able to pre-order a new Combat Patrol soon too.

This is another of the new sets which have been designed to work as a competent army right out of the box. It might not seem like a lot of miniatures but it should give you just what you need to maybe slip into your first few games of Warhammer 40,000 with friends.
Are you tempted by these new Warhammer 40,000 offerings?

The Chaos and Necron boxes look good.
Here are the AOS Boxes: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/11/16/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-battleforces-incoming/
really like the Tzeentch one.
Will be talking about them later today 😉 They do look like fun boxes to pick up!
No orc? no deal!
The orc package would have just been 25 year old models with marketing saying how new and improved they were.
Depending on price the Guard box looks handy. Maybe not the perfect box for my needs right now but four Leman Russes and a token box of grunts isn’t that niche is it?
Most of those are let down with content clearly being what they happened to have in stock with CSM one being best of bunch. These are easy skip for me.
I am just returning to the hobby and was considering the Blood Angels Combat Patrol (to rekindle the old love for rip&tear chapter) but it’s sad that it does not contain any Blood Angels specific units. No Death Company, Sanguinary guard or even assault intercessors. So I’m a bit disappointed in this box thematically.
That’s big problem with that BA Combat Patrol box. It’s so generic and good for any other chapter than BA that it’s supposed to be for. Only unit with some CC weapons in it are Aggressors and of course Librarian while rest are very shooty.
Some interesting sets to choose from.
The problem with these ‘deals’ is there’s always something in there you don’t want, and you therefore end up paying more for the things you do want.
Glad they got rid of the derpy bell bottoms on some of the space marines. If they could come up with pauldrons that weren’t the size of garbage can lids I’d probably buy a few to use in other games.
Necron box looking like a good expansion to my Necrons having had the indomitus box drop through my door yesterday!
