After spying previews last week of the new starter options for Warhammer 40,000, it looks like this weekend will be your chance to dive in and pick up one of three new Starter Sets from Games Workshop and/or go down the hobby route.

The Rules - Warhammer 40000 JUL

We start off however with the new book coming up for pre-order this weekend. The Rules does exactly what it says on the tin. It contains all of the Core Rules for those wanting to get stuck into Warhammer 40,000 on the tabletop. Forgo the digital PDFs and such and bring a nice physical book to the tabletop instead.

It's a little smaller than the A5 format and gives you sixty-four pages of Core Rules. You'll still need the Chapter Approved cards and such to set up proper missions but if you just want a handy reference document, this is where to go.

Starter Set Options

As we mentioned last week, there are going to be three different options for you to choose from when it comes to getting started in Warhammer 40,000. Games Workshop have options for getting you started as a fresh recruit as well as two options for those who are familiar with the game and just want to get stuck in.

Ultimate Starter Set - Warhammer 40000 JUL

The Introductory Starter Set seems like a good "pick it up on a whim" set that you might get for younger gamers. It might also be a nice option for bigger kids who haven't tried out the hobby before but want to get their heads around this strange game of toy soldiers.

You've then got the much bigger sets which come with a whole host of miniatures and in the case of the Ultimate set, some terrain as well. You get a nice assortment of new miniatures for both the Space Marines and the Tyranids here so that's a bonus and the small Core Rules set in the Ultimate box could be handy for reference at the tabletop.

As bonus options for the Starter Sets, you will also be able to buy the Librarian In Terminator Armour separately and a unit of Barbgaunts for the Tyranids.

New Get Started Painting Kits

Last but not least, there are also a couple of options for those wanting to dive into the painting side of things whilst also getting their hands on some of the tools of the trade.

Termagants Paint Set - Warhammer 40000

The Infernus Space Marine Set comes with all of the colours required to get those first miniatures painted plus a Starter Brush. The Termagants Set offers up the same but with gribbly aliens instead of the brooding Angels Of Death.

There is also the Paints & Tools Set which comes with a whole host of appropriate paints for the armies seen here and a set of clippers, a brush and mould line remover.

A potential option for those who got the new Leviathan Set a few weeks ago and now find themselves eager to get more painting done with an appropriate set of paints. Well, if you're looking to do Leviathan and Ultramarines! You could mix things up of course and use these colours to paint a variety of other Chapters and Hive Fleets. Be inventive!

Could you be tempted to get started in Warhammer 40,000 with these new options from Games Workshop?
