New Necrons & Adeptus Mechanicus For Warhammer 40K
October 16, 2023 by brennon
Another of the big previews from Warhammer Day focused on the next two armies coming to Warhammer 40,000. The Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus are going to be getting new Codexes before the year is out and that means new plastic miniatures and more from Games Workshop.
Imotekh The Stormlord // Warhammer 40,000

The first new miniature that will be ushering in the new Codex is Imotekh The Stormlord. Much aggrieved by the return of The Silent King who has stepped all over his plans of domination, The Stormlord is ready to unleash the power of the Sautekh Dynasty. He comes with a lovely new cloak and also that deadly Gauntlet Of Fire and Staff Of The Destroyer.
Imotekh will be just one of the new miniatures coming out for Codex: Necrons when it launches later this year. I would guess that we're going to see a lot of the previously Finecast miniatures getting revamped and turned into new plastic kits. They did get a very good update at the start of 9th Edition so there isn't too much work to do.
Codex: Necrons // Warhammer 40,000
Talking of new things, the Codex comes with a whole new set of Enhancements and Strategems covering different factions within the Necron army. Much like with the Space Marines, whilst these have been themed to match particular characters and dynasties, you can use these to make whatever Necron army you like.
Hypercrypt Legion Stratagem // Warhammer 40,000
Inside the Codex, you'll get all the lore that you'd expect as well as forty-seven datasheets, new Crusade rules and five Detachments. Each of those Detachments has unique Enhancements and Strategems. All of these will be presented in the same way as the Space Marine and Tyranid Codex where it all fits onto a double-page spread so it's easier to use in the heat of battle.
New Adeptus Mechanicus Codex!
As well as the Necrons, the Adeptus Mechanicus are getting a new Codex. Leading the way for this new book for 10th Edition is the Sydonian Skatros, a deadly sniper who has given himself some extra height in order to get the perfect shot.
Sydonian Skatros // Warhammer 40,000
Channelling all of the Blanchitsu energy of the faction, the Sydonian Skatros looks like it's going to be a bit of a marmite miniature. I can see people either absolutely loving this miniature or loathing it with a passion. The Skatros can be armed with a jezzail which is good for taking out infantry or an arquebus which can be used to punch a hole through vehicles and monsters with ease.
Sydonian Skatros (Weapon Options) // Warhammer 40,000
Stick this fellow somewhere at the back of the board or in an advantageous position and start taking potshots at the enemy. Even though this fellow already has plenty of height to work with, I could see folks still sticking him somewhere on the top of the building. The Skatros really has modelled himself for advantage.
As with the Necron Codex, this book will come with a whole host of new rules for you to dive into alongside the new miniatures.

Join other Adeptus Mechanicus players in their protocols and directives as you look to conquer the battlefield with your mechanical chums.
Adeptus Mechanicus Detatchment Rules // Warhammer 40,000
Both of these Codexes are going to be landing before the end of 2023 which will mean that four factions for Warhammer 40,000 will already have their updated books for 10th Edition. I would love us to dwell in the lovely waters of the Index for a while longer but the relentless march of the Codex continues at pace. As I play Aeldari, Chaos Daemons and Space Wolves I'm fairly sure I'm going to be sorted for a while!
Could you be tempted by these new Codexes for Warhammer 40,000?

I don’t think Leglas is in Warhammer 40,000
Sniper on stilts, for the other side a target head and shoulders above the rest.
Jeebus that guy makes the cyber horsies look good. Poor, poor admechs.
Must have one heck of a gyro-stabilizer or zero-recoil. Plus instant retraction to duck behind cover. Or does he get to use the Towering rule?
Ugliest model in the entire Admech army, and thats saying a lot since half the army is ugly ass models.
Nice to see that Inspector Gadget got a job in the Ad Mech ranks 😀
