Games Workshop has previewed yet another new miniatures for the Kroot and by extension the T'au in Warhammer 40,000. This time around, we're seeing another mounted Kroot hunter who will be able to bring down tanks and snipe characters from units, spreading fear and discord.

We start with the Lone-spear rocking an explosive-tipped javelin, a little akin to the Rough Riders of the Astra Militarum. Rather than horses, these Kroot ride on the back of Kalamandras which come in all shapes, sizes and hues. These javelin-armed Kroot can use the explosives to take apart armoured troops and lighter armoured vehicles. You might even be able to put a bit of a hole in a tank.

An awesome new miniature for the Kroot and a great miniature for leading your pack of Kroot Hounds. It's also one that starts to explore more of the alien species that live on the various planets throughout the galaxy. Anything that helps to add more creative ideas to a world as big as Warhammer 40,000 is good to see!

We also have another take on the Lone-spear armed with a Long Rifle.

These accurate guns fire very heavy rounds over an extreme range that can bring their targets down easily. You can use these Lone-spears to pick out medics, sergeants and more within squads and make it easier for your Kroot or T'au to assault a position and clear out the enemy.

As mentioned, these Lone-spears can lead Kroot Hounds which makes them a pretty handy squad to hunt down foes on the fringes of the battlefield. Additionally, they come with the Advanced Scouting rule which means that when the Lone-spear manages to hit an enemy unit, the rest of the Kroot around them can re-roll their hits against that unit. It's pretty tasty!

I also really like the alternative paint scheme for the Kalamandras here meaning that you can make some unique mounts for the different Lone-spears in your army. I would imagine that the Leagues Of Votann players out there are getting a bit miffed at this point that the Kroot nearly have as many new units as they have in their entire army!

Will you be snapping up these Lone-spears?
