New Chaos Space Marine Kill Team Joins The Nachmund Box

Games Workshop has dropped more previews for the upcoming Kill Team: Nachmund set, expanding the skirmish options for Warhammer 40,000. The Corsairs are going to be coming up against a band of deadly Chaos Space Marines.

This offers up a selection of more specialised Chaos Space Marines that provide you with a good entry point into Kill Team. There are all manner of different weapons available to the various villains you can bring to the tabletop ranging from the humble Boltgun through to warp-touched blades blessed by the dark gods.
I have always liked the aesthetic of the Chaos Space Marines. I don't like all of the painting you have to do when it comes to their armour but beyond that, it's awesome. Who wouldn't want to have leg armour with screaming visages on it?
As well as some more traditional Chaos Space Marines, there is also a selection of more mutated and twisted additions to this Kill Team.
Deadly claws that look like they could carve through even the most well-designed power armour and cruel daggers make for perfect weapons for these warriors. I like all of the little touches that twist and change things here to give each of them a personality. It makes a big difference from the cookie-cutter Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes.
If you want to throw some heavier weapons into the mix then you also have a bloomin' Reaper Chaincannon!
Now that is going to be impressive when it starts spinning up. I like these elements that start to offer up a glimpse into the more cinematic moments that you can get when playing out smaller-scale games. You could imagine this grim-faced fellow firing his gun and absolutely shredding the terrain around some hunkering Corsair.
A touch of the warp has also manifested itself in the psychic powers of the Balefire Acolyte!
There are some impressive miniatures in this Kill Team that I'm sure a lot of Chaos Space Marine players will enjoy. There have also been some hints that this might be the start of some Chaos Space Marines actually getting the two wounds that people have been obsessed about for so long (obviously in normal Warhammer 40,000).
Kill Team: Nachmund Boxed Set
These Chaos Space Marines are then joined by the Corsair Voidscarred as part of Kill Team: Nachmund.

This set features the Aeldari, the Chaos Space Marines and also a big bunch of Sector Mechanicus terrain. Things are certainly going down deep within War Zone Nachmund. The Nachmund set also comes with expanded rules for playing amongst this Sector Mechanicus terrain. Underground exploration and more awaits with those hatches!

Pre-orders for Kill Team: Nachmund are going to be available very soon. I would imagine that it should be coming up shortly after the pre-orders for the new Aeldari Codex this weekend. Are you going to be diving in and checking out this set when it lands? Could you be tempted by the Chaos Space Marines from this set?
Let me know in the comments below!

This feels like a dilution of what they’d set out with. In other words bespoke kill teams for each faction. A sprue with a few heads etc doesn’t really bowl me over.
This box is ending up being a similar concept to the Kill Team: Chalnath expansion, where
* one team is totally new to the setting (so in Nachmund it is the Corsairs and in Chalnath it was the Adepta Sororitas Novitiate)
* the other team gets an upgrade sprue to an existing box set(Chaos Space Marines and T’au Pathfinder respectively).
It was a disappoint to me too, but I see the pattern now.
The Krieg and Ork commando’s are just plain ol’ troop boxes for 40k. As such they aren’t *that* special either, but as both kits were new they felt like new things. It’s not that different than WarCry where we’re now seeing ‘standard’ plastic kits from existing armies being reboxed as ‘unique’ squads to use in that game. (I best that Necromunda and bloodbowl are next if GW has its way … ) From a company point of view it makes sense. As a gamer I am dissapointed to see such lack of new shiny for these killteam boxes. Then again… Read more »
I mean, no matter what people are disappointed. When it was bespoke kill teams, people complained that the new KT didn’t let them use their existing 40k figs. Now it’s 50/50, and people are unhappy that it’s not all unique figs. However, Tau and CSM players are probably excited for a new set of bits for their armies. Other people have mentioned the reboxed Warcry boxes. In many cases those are GW listening to players. Many AOS Warcry bands needed you to buy 2-3 $50 AOS unit boxes to play the warband. Many of those Warcry boxes took 1 sprue… Read more »
Good figures,kill the heretics.
Unless that terrain is new then there really isn’t anything new in that one.
The Chaos Space Marines are all new models. The Corsairs are all new models. The terrain (I believe) is pre-existing. So, it does contain a bunch of new stuff. Whether you like the new stuff is up to you of course.
Only the Corsairs are all new, the Chaos Marines are existing models with a new spure just like the Tau Pathfinders from the last box.
From the Warhammer Community article:
“Much like the T’au Pathfinders from the Kill Team: Chalnath set, this box provides a ton of new customisation options for an existing kit.”
Ah fair – core bodies from the existing kit with new arms/heads etc. Makes sense, must have skimmed over that.
Looks like all the Eldar corsairs need to do to stop the spacemarines is to have small doors and low ceilings in their bunker 😉
So these new Chaos Space Marines, are they going to be “classic” sized Chaos Space Marines or new “Primaris” sized Chaos Space Marines?
I wish GW would bring out something different in the terrain department than the same old clunky Imperial installations. I am sure they are fine for those who’s day job is a gas pipe fitter. The Tau should have got a Tau base and the Eldar got one of their own too. Even a chaos freak show base would have made a nice change.
