New Battle Sisters Repent & Bring Death To Their Enemies
July 23, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop is continuing their peek into what's coming for the Sisters Of Battle/Adepta Sororitas. This time around we got a look at the new Sisters Repentia, battle-scarred and ready to show their Faith in The Emperor during games of Warhammer 40,000.
The Sisters Repentia are Battle Sisters who have shown that they cannot live up to the stringent tenants of their order. As punishment, they have to wash clean their sins in the blood of their enemies, stripped of their armour and weapons and instead gifted a chainsword and the order to go out and slay as many heretics as they possibly can. Well, that sounds very grimdark to me.
The plastic kits are looking pretty stunning I have to say, packed with movement and dynamism. I love that the brutal conditions of their repentance are shown on their skin in the form of numerous scars and the fluttering edicts and prayers across their kit so their continued devotion to The Emperor even in the midst of all that bloodshed.
Much like with the previous previews for the new Battle Sisters I would imagine that these miniatures will pretty much have one pose when it comes to putting them together. Still, with some inventive painting and of course the good ol' bitz box you will have no problem tweaking them to look more individual.
It's also good to see that even in the grimdark future, when you've been stripped of your armour and asked to repent, they still give you a pair of shoes just so you don't hurt your feet! That would probably be the one thing I'd change here as otherwise, I'm loving the look of these models.
It is becoming very hard to convince myself that when these are released I won't immediately buy a set and start thinking about Kill Team.
What do you make of the newest preview?

The brand on their foreheads is a nice touch!
“a pair of shows” ? oO shoes! BEN! REPENT!! XD
Tweaked, thanks for spotting that.
The Sisters were always the most characterful minis. Not now. Wacoshop need to start recruiting real sculpters!
What about them don’t you like?
Their manufacturer I’m guessing.
The new ? Charles Angeles look very kick ass.
These impress me. While they are typical GW quality, they appear well thought out. These, to me, look like disgraced warrior women. They are obviously women, but there is no unnecessary nakedness or sexiness. No cleavage, boob armor, or battle heels. They are also appropriately athletic, looking like they could actually swing those chainswords. the shaved heads, the armor plugs, the head brands, all come together well. I still think with the dynamic poses we are seeing here, that this initial set of battle sisters are 1-pose push-fits in a starter set. Not that they won’t have normal kits, but… Read more »
Aye would be interesting to see if we do get a new Starter Set with them as the focus against something heretical. I too really like the fact they’ve managed to hit the nail on the head in terms of design, making them look wild and such without resorting to old school tactics for sculpting these kinds of characters.
Totally not a fan of the new Sisters range that has been shown up to this point. The proportions in the sculpts look off to me in these and the others we’ve seen. I think Games Workshop has lost their head in designing this range and I know it was also driven by the community as well. Shame really.
No armour. Well that will be about 15 seconds of combat in the ‘grimdark’. A kid with a las-pistol can take them out at 15 ft 🙂
Pure grit and zealous hatred fuel their fortitude clearly. Plus, if they die then they clearly weren’t repentant enough to survive and join the order.
Grimdark, being free from constraints of reality, grants you plot armor the dumber you look, so they’ll be fine.
I am woman, hear me saw!
Those look really good. GW is hitting ball to the park with they new SoB sculpts.
I love these. No real interest in running a full SoB army but these ladies, some Arco Flagelents and Penitent Engines will be tagged onto my Inquisition.
Better, especially the poses, but they still don’t work for me.
Be good to see these next to some Dark Age models – I really want these to be some Red Sisters for my Forsaken faction in darkage.
Looks more like Brothers Repentia. Sculptors need a lesson or two in anatomy, especially female anatomy. Yuck.
I think they look like athletic women, which they would be since they’re soldiers.
I’m with Brennon. The only thing which struck me were the size of their fists, but that is probably more due to the heroic scale of 40k more than anything else.
I think within the context of these been GW miniatures and been sculpted in GWs “Heroic scale” sculpting they look like quite muscular or athletic women, I would not fault anyone thinking they do not have proper anatomy, because they have GW anatomy.
The things I do not like from their current proposed iteration are the sports uniform (or sports underwear, your choice) makes much sense from a practical standpoint but the “Scroll” tabard was more attuned with the 40k universe, the shoes… and the power armour interface??? why they even have it? this should be a Space marine thing.
No, black carpace is marines thing, and that’s under the skin. Makes sense that power armor needs some way to connect to user to work.
According to the fluff, at least the old fluff, the black carapace was the backbone of the power armour interface marines had it and this is why in contrast to every body else power armour is to them a second skin and not a power assisted heavy plate armour, anybody else has a really sophisticated power assisted armour that enhances them and according to the level of sophistication may have everything up to a machine spirit, but it will never be interfaced with their neural network. They might have changed it but having anybody else with interface plugs than a… Read more »
I like that they’re muscular, I also like that they sculpted the contacts for the power armor. Their arms are way too long and as bulky as the armor-clad sisters shown in bulletin 11 https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/07/08/battle-sister-bulletin-part-11-battle-sisters-ahoygw-homepage-post-2/
Same goes for the hands. The posing also looks rather male, off, out of uncanny valley.
Good … now please revisit the Eldar and bring back the squats.
