Games Workshop looks to be playing catch-up with a selection of their pre-orders for this weekend. Warhammer 40,000 fans are going to be able to start things off however with the release of the new Codex Adeptus Mechanicus and the Skitarii Marshal.

As you might have guessed by now, the new Codex for the Adeptus Mechanicus comes with all of the updated statistics and options for those wanting to play them as an army in the grimdark future. This means updated and tweaked unit profiles, strategems and options for gameplay and a hefty dose of lore as well I would imagine. Combined with this, you will also be able to pick up the new Datacards and Dice but probably only if you're quick (well, lucky).

The only real new miniature for the Adeptus Mechanicus is the new Skitarii Marshal who comes in as a commanding figure to control the flow of battle on the tabletop.

Skitarii Marshal // Warhammer 40,000

As more of a battlefield commander compared to the Tech-Priests, the Skitarii Marshal seems like a good choice for those who want to take that more militaristic approach. I like the miniature, as is the case with most of the Adeptus Mechanicus range, and I think it would be great seeing one of these lording it over the battlefield.

You might find that the Skitarii Marshal is a good way to lead this new Combat Patrol set which is also coming up for pre-order over the weekend.

This is one of their sets which is designed to get you playing pretty much right away. You get a Tech-Priest Enginseer, Onager Dunecrawler, three Kataphron Destroyers (or Breachers) and a squad of ten Skitarii Rangers (or Vanguard).

This makes a twenty power force for you to use on the tabletop with your friends. I know a lot of folks who are picking up these Combat Patrol sets as a starting point and using these as the basis for their first few games before they expand out. It does seem like a good balance of troops and vehicles for those that want to get started, much more so than some of the sets!

Space Marines & Necrons

The miniatures from the most recent Kill Team box are also now getting released separately too. You'll be able to pick up the characters and units from that set individually so you can introduce them to your army en masse.

So yes, this means that you can now get your Heavy Intercessors with their fancy new armour and the much-anticipated Flayed Ones! I was a fan of all of the new miniatures presented in Pariah Nexus so it's good to see them now seeing the light of day for Warhammer 40,000 in general. The Flayed Ones in particular are looking great in their new plastic form. It's a big improvement over the old models and still as gory as ever!

Those releases also come out alongside two new Combat Patrol sets for the Space Marines and Necrons.

The Space Marine set looks suited and booted for combat behind enemy lines. You get ten Infiltrators/Incursors and an Impulsor to carry them. You also get a Lieutenant in Phobos Armour, three Eliminators and three Suppressors for some additional firepower.

The Necrons get an equally interesting set of miniatures.

Necron Combat Patrol - Warhammer 40K May New

Necron Combat Patrol // Warhammer 40,000

This set contains ten Immortals/Deathmarks, a Night Scythe/Doom Scythe plus a new unit of Tomb Blades and an Overlord. This seems to once again offer up the option of a more stealthy force that is looking to get behind enemy lines. You could just go the other route and arm them with heavy weapons and just start blastin'.

...And A Drukhari?

The last of the miniatures that is going up for pre-order is Lelith Hesperax!

Lelith Hesperax // Warhammer 40,000

This cruel killer is going to be available for the first time separately offering you another leader option for your Drukhari force on the tabletop. She has gone full foot-on-rock of course (why would you not?) and is leaping into the fray with weapons at the ready.

All of these miniatures, packs and books will be available to pre-order this weekend. So, keep an eye out and let us know which of the new releases appeals to you!
