New Warhammer 40K Space Marine Miniatures Strike This Weekend
February 20, 2023 by brennon
Games Workshop are adding some new Space Marines into the mix (yes, even more!) this week. Pre-orders go live for the new Strike Force Agastus which offers up a way to get your hands on all of the new miniatures before their general release.

This set comes with all of the new miniatures plus a few more for good measure. Leading the way are the ten Desolation Marines who come armed with various heavy weapons for saturating an area with firepower. "Do you want some guns with your guns?" comes to mind when looking at their weaponry.

As well as the marmite Desolation Marines, there is also the very nice new Brutalis Dreadnought. As someone who has been wanting to add Dreadnoughts to their Space Marine force for a while, this new kit looks like something I'll be picking up. I like that the close combat-focused Dreadnought isn't just the reserve of the Blood Angels anymore. I will be getting at least two for my army I reckon.
Last but not least, we have the Primaris Lieutenant. This fellow comes with all of the different options that the Primaris Lieutenant can pick from their wargear which makes it much more versatile than previous kits. He is also backed up by a set of five Heavy Intercessors that hammer home the unrelenting firepower of this set.
Since this set features new miniatures, Strike Force Agastus also comes with a sixteen-page rules booklet that includes the new Datasheets. You also get transfers for making them into the poster boys of Warhammer 40,000, the Ultramarines.
With the way that the Desolation Marines have gone down (not a lot of people like their look), I'd be interested to see how many people pick up this set. These might be sets that people wait on until they get their big release.
Boarding Patrols
As well as the new boxed set above, there are also two more Boarding Patrol sets coming out for pre-order this weekend.
Boarding Patrol - Chaos Space Marines // Warhammer 40,000
The Chaos Space Marines set comes with a band of Cultists alongside a warband of Chaos Space Marines. You also get the impressively brutal Abaddon leading the way. I would imagine he can just solo a boarding action by himself.
The Tyranid set is also going to slink through the depths of a space hulk, ready to strike from the shadows.
Boarding Patrol - Tyranids // Warhammer 40,000
Led by the fearsome Broodlord, you've also got a crack team of Tyranid Warriors with a whole host of different weapons and the Genestealers. The focus here is on getting up close and personal with your enemy and ripping them to pieces as you breach through doors and assault objectives.
Will you be snapping up some of these new boxed sets for Warhammer 40,000?

Man, tempting to grab the Agastus box to reinforce my Space Wolves – there’s a load of bits lying around from a prior Ven Dread build that would be perfect to Wolf it up. Ditto the Heavy Intercessors & Lt, and I’d be lying if I didn’t want to try and fix those Desolators and their ridiculous guns. Either that or go full ham and make them look even more ridiculous….
I do like the dreadnought with the two powered claws.
Those new Primaris heavy weapons still look silly IMO but that melee Dreadnought is nice addition. Those Boarding patrol boxes seem neat as well.
Apart from those silly Desolators, a big box with Heavy Intercessors, a lieutenant in Gravis plate, and a new Dreadnought would be a lot of fun.
