New 40K Kill Team Set & More Pre-Orders Drop This Weekend
February 6, 2023 by brennon
Games Workshop are going to be diving into a whole host of Sci-Fi skirmish game goodness this weekend. Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is landing on tabletops once again with pre-orders available for the newest set in the series, Soulshackle.

Soulshackle is the latest addition to the skirmish game where you're fighting deeper and deeper into the heart of the Gallowdark. This time around, the Adeptus Arbites Exaction Squad are kicking ass and taking names, ready to drag their targets back to the boarding craft.

There are a seriously hefty amount of components in this set allowing you to make some very funky Arbites. You can arm them with their classic shotguns but there are plenty of pistols, rifles and heavier weapons as well. You also get the goodest boy! Who wouldn't want a lovely K9 unit running around with you, hunting down your foes?
I like that the armour design has moved from essentially being Judge Dredd to something a little more baroque and medieval. It matches up quite nicely with the style seen in the armour of the Adepta Sororitas.
Going up against the Adeptus Arbites, we have the Hand Of The Archon, a band of Kabalite Warriors who have infiltrated the Gallowdark.

This isn't a new kit. The basis of this new set of Drukhari is the standard Kabalite Warriors plastic kit that a lot of folks will be familiar with. There is however a new upgrade sprue included with this set allowing you to add additional weapons, accessories and more into the mix alongside this Kill Team.
It's a shame that it's not a full new kit for the Drukhari but I think that the plastic kit that they're using as the basis for it still holds up and looks cool when sat next to more modern sets. So, no big upset here from me and it has been done before with previous sets from the Kill Team range.
Returning Warhammer 40,000 Kill Teams
As well as the new set for Kill Team, Soulshackle, you can also now get your hands on some of the older Kill Teams from previous sets. Finally, folks will be able to get their hands on the likes of the Kroot Kinband and the Imperial Navy Breachers.

We've seen all of these miniatures before so I won't guild the lily too much when going through them. It's very nice to see these becoming available separately though as there will be a lot of folks wanting to drop these into their games of Warhammer 40,000 as well as just Kill Team.
Keeping with the "cool new miniatures for the Imperium" theme, the badass Kasrkin are also available for you to snap up and add into the mix. Armed with the hotshot lasguns and kitted out for some of the most gruelling warzones, these elite veterans of the Astra Militarum are no doubt going to find their way into quite a few armies.

You can also get yourself the rather eclectic Hierotek Circle which can be used by Necron fans. Get those snipers into good positions and blast your foes from afar. If things get a bit hairy then simply shred them to pieces with your gauss technology and shimmering blades.
Kill Team: Hierotek Circle // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
The Hierotek Circle is possibly the oddest of the Kill Teams released so far but it's nice to see that they got themselves something unique rather than just having to draw on classic Necron Warriors for example. If you want to be aloof and quirky then I would say that the Necrons are the way to go.
Collected Rules & Terrain Sets
As well as returning Kill Teams, you can also get your hands on specific rules to cover these miniatures in your games.
Shadowvaults // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
With these two books (above and below), you've got all the extra rules that you need for running these Kill Teams if you missed out on the boxed sets. Shadowvaults covers the Necrons and the Kasrkin and Into The Dark explores the Kroot and the Imperial Navy Breachers.
Into The Dark // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
As well as the books, there are also two terrain sets coming out that cover the different options that were made available during the release of the boxed sets. There is one for Shadowvaults...

...or you can dive in a little deeper with the Gallowdark set. Phew, that is a lot of new pre-orders for Kill Team and it's dropping at the same time as a lot of other stuff!

Oh, and whilst it's not specifically Kill Team, these new Void War Bases are going to be very handy for a lot of folks looking to build up armies that battle in the interiors of spaceships and large Imperium-themed structures.

A lot of people have been eager to get their hands on these and many have held off even finishing their Boarding Actions armies so that they can add these into the mix. All of the additional gubbins you get in the set are going to be fun for kitbashers and it's nice to see that there are a LOT of bases in the kit and in different sizes.
Could you be tempted to dive into some Kill Team with either the new boxed set OR a returning favourite?

I loved the Kroot models. I kitbashed all the leftover bits with the old kroot models as well. They fit quite nicely and allowed me to build every specialist, something you couldn’t do with just one box.
Fabulous looking new figures for the gamer’s to snatch up.
Love the grill bases I bet Gerry would go for the square one’s ?
Those look nice.
I missed out on the Shadowvaults box due to the ‘surprise’ early launch of that set and it selling out on pre-orders, now with all the parts coming in the same weekend as Soulshackle if I want to catch up I’m going to be looking at spending £300, not an easy thing considering the current state of the world.
