New Necrons Have Awoken For Warhammer 40,000!
January 23, 2015 by brennon
Games Workshop are back into the world of Warhammer 40,000 this week with the release of a new Necron Codex, a Limited Edition, and to lead them an entirely new Overlord in plastic. If you like your metal overlords from the annuls of the past then this is the week for you...
As well as the basic Codex there is the Cryptek Edition of the rules which comes in the standard lovely looking case that you can see above. As was pointed out by Jamie from Monolith last week on The Weekender these things are a work of art and despite the rather expensive price tag they are perfect for collectors. You get some nice extras including the objective markers too.
If you want to lead your long dead warriors into combat then there's also the Necron Overlord as mentioned above. He's very cool once again and in plastic which is cool - always a fan of their plastic clamp packs. I actually am seriously considering Necrons as an army actually.
On top of that there's also the extras so you can get some Data Cards for the new Necron army and these are always nice buy. There's also The Tomb Awakened army set that you can buy if you want yourself an army immediately.
Will you be getting yourself a new Necron army?

That cover does look rather good.
That Overlord does not look so good. Besides pose could be much better considering that this one only has one pose. I do like plastic multi-part one from Catacomb Command Barge/Annihilation barge kit far more.
Unripe oranges, market stall merchant.
“Freshly picked for you today.”
I don’t dislike the lord, but its not screaming out to be purchased. Will be interested to see what they do with 40k as this is the second fairly minimal codex release – although I don’t think the necrons where in need of much. This won’t be ending my sojourn from 40k
Having seen the 360 that overlord is rather nicer than it seemed, the cloak is really nice
Alas poor yorick I knew him well.
The Hulk is checking inside his shorts even as we speak 🙂
You thought he was angry before.
Wait until he finds out what has gone missing!!!
Took me a moment to get tat , seriously lol
I am a mighty overlord and I shall display my full power by stepping on this random small rock beneath my feet!!
IT SHALL KNOW MY WRATH!!!!
Mwhahahaha
Thats not what he is saying, its:
“Like, oh… my… god, guys come over here. There is like energon under my foot! See I’m holding some.”
Now I know the last codex added personalities for the lords so just imagine him with a valley girl accent.
Lets all hope the new codex corrects the fluff as its mostly all dumb.
Whats with the freaking feet on goddamn rocks ?? Its hillarious :p
I’ll get the new codex, itll probably inspire me to make more angry robot music at the least. That’s always a good thing.
Feet on rocks must be the done thing when holding one of The Hulk’s stones up in the air…
The balls of the incredible Hulk
Were of quite prodigious a bulk.
‘Til it happened one day
A Necron stole one away
Now the Hulk is the Incredible Sulk
It’s got a bit of a Nile vibe to it, and not in a good way. The shoe shine pose doesn’t help. Nothing says “Buy the old stuff fast” better than this latest offering. Maybe that’s been the idea this last year. Throw total sh*t at their customers to get them to panic and buy up all the old stock lol. Then make ‘new’ old stock.
The new old stock will be Shoe Shine Scarab Drones that buff the Necron Overlord both literally and mtaphorically
Wonder when GW has to start working a new rule set (no not yet another variant of third ed.) to survive in a world of amazing wargaming that isnt warhammer.
For a £5/7 each I’ll buy TWO/THREE of those lord models to use as Lords. As an Overlord he isn’t as imposing or respectable enough, but as a normal Lord I’ll happily let them lead a few warrior squads. Mix ’em up with my other Lords.
So £5 each was it ?
all sing together: Hitler has only got one ball…
I kind of agree with the Lord, there are other good options out there.
£17…… The model’s £17….. I’m at a loss.
A fair price imho
a fiver for the model and 12 quid for the Hulk’s bauble
Indeed…you just persuaded me to buy five of those amazing minis!
Actually, it runs on Windows 10, so you’re paying £1 for the model, and £16 for the OS inside it. And of course, both Microsoft and Games Workshop will stop supporting it in six months.
Oh, I didn’t realise you got the Hulks veg…. Still though its pricey for what you get. Yea, quality etc but still.
