The Mighty Tyranid Dimachaeron Stomps Out Of Forge World
August 11, 2014 by brennon
The Hive Mind of Forge World has come up with a new and dangerous evolutionary path for the Tyranid. See what you think of their huge predator, the Dimachaeron!
It's quite the monstrous beast and can slice a Space Marine in two, leap a Leman Russ in one bound and uses sheer brutality and animal rage to charge down and tear its prey to pieces. It has all manner of weapons and stands taller than even some of the big Mechanicum walkers that have come out recently. It's a deadly hunter and no mistake!
What do you think of the Dimachaeron?

WANT!
That is sooo lean and terrifying.
The chest is awesome 🙂
love the open chest, reminds me of the gaping dragon from dark Souls
Ain’t it a sheer beauty?
Dale a tu cuerpo alegria Dimachaeron
Que tu cuerpo es pa’ darle alegria y cosa buena
Dale a tu cuerpo alegria, Dimachaeron
Heeeeey Dimachaeron
AAAhAA!
Standing on a rock… 😉
Middle picture definitely makes it look like its about to hug something…
Sooo shiny, but I just can’t justify that kind of money. What is that on/under his left foot? Has he got something like a bear trap hanging off it?
Taking the standing on a rock meme to a new level
Not only has the right foot found a small rock on the base, but the left foot got caught in a mouse trap and has now slapped down into a big squiggy dump of stinknasty.
No wonder the poor ‘nid looks so pissed off!
I dont like it at all. Despite the Naomi Campbell legs, it has an odd balance to it.
The “Boo I scare you” pose doesnt help either. Just glad they didnt sulpt any skulls on it to utilize every scary asset in tehir repertoir, fangs and tooth are enough.
I’m sure the appendages are separate, and that it’s poseable.
That is very good sculpt.
That is one beautiful beast, not sure what is with the rock under one hooved foot, now, do FW except a kidney or blood as part payment!?
Whilst I don’t disagree that it’s pricey, the model itself is certainly sizeable, it towers over a Siege Autonoma… thingy!

Which is itself quite a chunky fella! 🙂
For some reason, this critter just seems to have more of the ‘gribble factor’ (that is totally a thing, right?) than most ‘Nids – perhaps it is the rather brutal spine maw that does it. It cetainly allows Tyranid playes to yell ‘get in mah… thorax?’ at various points during proceedings. The model certainly conveys the viscous, rampaging alien kill-beast look rather well, and the rules fit its appearance nicely. Looking at its chest claw things reminds me a little of certain forms adopted by the creature in John Carpenter’s The Thing, which is a good source of inspiration to… Read more »
I can see this being an excellent base for a conversion for an alien queen!
Yup, would be great to strap a puffy, sickly coloured ‘Michelin Man’ style thorax to the back end in place of a tail :-).
But how would you model the copious alien goop accompany the laying of the facehugger eggs, without which an Alien Queen Conversion is most assuredly incomplete?
Cheesecloth. It’s already somewhat random in composition, and you can tear it and tack it to places then stiffen it up with some 1:1 PVA glue/water mix brushed on after the glue has set. You can then slick it up with Woodland Scenics Realistic Water.
I must remember that technique for future reference. Thanks. 🙂
Come to think of it, that would make for an awesome alternative Tervigon model…
oooh, I like how the open chest has it’s own eyes too 🙂
looks like a big screaming mouth 🙂
$124.31 CAD plus shipping isn’t too bad for a figure from Forge World that’s this large. I don’t know why people think it’s so expensive. You pay more for a GW tank with less options.
Now on to the model itself, while it does look good over all, I’m not too sure about the demon hoof and the other foot being mashed up pile of melted bits. Maybe the fluff about it rebuilding itself is it rebuilding a damaged hoof?
Some tyranids have had hooves in every incarnation of the army – just look at the various Carnifex kits. The idea is to convey that the tyranids have attributes from many phyla of creatures that they have devoured down the centuries, with mammalian hooves, reptillian jaws, insectoid carapaces, and so on. The other foot is actually standing on what appears to be a peice of shattered Imperial architecture; it seems to be the monstrous creature variant of the infamous foot-on-rock pose. As for pricing – you have a point. Given the size of this model and the fact that it… Read more »
I must agree really, I don’t think the price tag is that bad, for the size and very nice detailing, and the fact it is FW. Each time I look, I notice something else about it.
£85 for some resin?
I’d rather buy 2 of these beauties

Am assuming the bits attached to the feet are to help secure the model to the base.
Would it not be possible to extend the rocks to provide an even better attachment? Maybe even incorporate a scenic base.
