Massive Titans Coming To Forge World With Horus Heresy: Tempest?
April 15, 2015 by brennon
Forge World added another video to their visual feed showing off the teaser for Horus Heresy: Tempest which will be bringing massive Titans to the tabletop including hopefully a Warlord version of said walking fortress...
Hopefully this is going to be a fascinating look at not only new models but also an entirely new level of warfare with these huge things walking around. There's hopefully a very good reason for them to linger on that first image above and maybe we'll see a snippet of what it looks like in model form soon.
Book Five: Tempest is coming very soon (Spring 2015) so watch this space for more on it.
Are you excited?

Paypal works too these days with Forge World !
I don’t care if a warlord costs something like £1000, I’m getting me one!!
“If” Dave, “if”! 🙂
Easily gonna be over a grand when you consider a Reaver is almost £600 – I would love one but:
A) Couldn’t afford it
B) Nowhere to store it (considering it’s probably going to be the size of a small child!)
C) When the hell would I use it!? Only used my Reaver once in the year I’ve had it
You reckon over the one thousand mark then?
The Tau Manta is the largest model produced so far isn’t it? It was meant to be the Tau equivalent of a (large) Titan I’m sure, so I guess I’d not be surprised to see the Warlord cost more.
I wonder if it matches the asumptions I made, when I started to scratch build mine. Looks really exciting!
I love the look of it.But the practicalities of using it and moving it about frighten me.Please think about making a titans on titans skirmish game in a more practical scale 10 or15mm scale would be awesome also a bit less of a burden on my wallet.Just think warhounds the size of a dread reaver about the size of a comtemptor a warlord about the size of a dread knight or knight.Think about them duking it out in a city ohhhhhh. Please make the dream a reality Yours Beggingly Jay
Now that is a good idea @thebige. If only GW could be persuaded to listen…
Kidnapping corporate CEOs and threatening to make them watch 50 Shades of Grey on an endless loop until they do what you say is still illegal in the UK, right?
Darn… 😉
They could call the new system “Epic.” 🙂
Hey – the warp ate my comment.
I was saying that we shouldn’t go completely crazy here, cpauls1 – you can’t expect GW to just resurrect one of its most popular and sucessful games systems, that would be way too easy (and sensible).
You’ll want them to bring back Battle Fleet Gothic next… 😉
lol. I’m quite certain Firestorm Armada has sent that packing, and deservedly so 😉 .
I see what you did there!
I might have to start my own Kickstarter to get one.
It will doubtless be the usual Forgeworld combination of a beautiful model at an eyewatering price.
Still, one’s own 40K scale Warlord titan…
I imagine that a lot of wargamers will soon be struggling to find reasons to justify an expensive new purchase to their significant others. ‘Its an investment really’ will doubtless be a popular choice. Soon after, several of those self same wargamers will find themselves sleeping on the couch, with only their new Warlord for company.
Why do you hate our wallets (and our relationships), Forgeworld? What did they ever do to you?
I duno, my wife bought me my last titan…
Why don’t you make one @deaddave ? It seems a more logical choice than sketching out a variation of the Hephaestus model and calling it “your own.” A better investment too, imo. @chrisg has apparently made some, and there are others on Pinterest.
Well, just to get the facts straight, I didn’t draw my concept, I hired a concept artist. It was also the same concept artist that did the designs for the Hephaestus miniature. The artists name is Roberto Cirillo. Why draw it myself when I can hire the artist to do it for me 😉 as for making my own titan, mmmm, could do, I’ll see how I get on after I’ve had my other miniature sculpted and released.
Oh… I thought you had done the artwork.
Still, it would be good to see you build one of these Titans! 😉
She must be one understanding lady, @deaddave. Most non-wargamers tend to take a bit more convincing when it comes to spending several hundred pounds on a model, no matter how pretty it is to… more enlightened eyes. 😉
Watch the angron unboxing that was just put up, its not mine, its my missus model lol.

I haven’t seen that video yet, I was meaning to check it out today.
A wargaming soulmate certainly makes life easier. Maybe you will be the one to come home one day and find that a Warlord-shaped package has inexplicably appeared in your living room… 😉
That it is. I’ve been on a self-imposed miniature buying ban while I construct the mancave… which was actually an order from my missus. As our group has grown we have had to move from the dining room to the garage, and the max size of games there has grown to about 6′ by 8′. When you’ve got a dozen people crowded around the table, and a buffet table and bar set up, and all our hobby stuff stacked about the room, it can still feel tight. So, while I’ve been tied up financially with the outbuilding, she has been… Read more »
What will something like this weigh in resin? I can see casualty statistics – oooh matron, that’s the third Warlord Titan hernia this week…
Never mind the mortgage to buy one
A Warlord, not a hernia… just to be clear 🙂
What the hell would you actually do with it? lol
I’ve seen a lot of great scratch-builds of these on Pinterest. Not my thing, and of course tactically unsound, but they were still great bits of art.
The only Warhammer I do these days is 30k. The models I love and the price I dont mind, since I paint so slow that it never could ruin me.
Just recently I had quite the resin-gasm after recieving the Gal Vorbak modles. Holy moly, they are among, if not THE coolest models in the Heresy range.
Just one enormous stomp and it has locked the entire enemy army in close combat! Brilliant! 😉 seriously, bring back epic
Build one, I know I am crap on downloading but going for a couple of lessons when the plague has left the house of Goddard. I have a couple including photos of build history. Just thought
Chris G
Really? You need to hook up with @deaddave, to keep him from making a tragic mistake lol.
Seriously @chrisg , I’d like to see one. If this thread is any indication, and if you can build them in a reasonable amount of time, its like a license to print money. E-mail me me a few pics I’ll post them on your behalf.
My guess is that £1000 is just a little too much for them to reliably sell many of them, perhaps they will be generous and tie it to a similar level to the Reaver… Somehow I doubt they will be feeling particularly generous.
I want one. I need one.
The price depends on its size compared to the reaver. Estimates on various sites put it at 20-30% larger then the reaver. And that is what 600 ish quid? So my guess is around 800£ for the beast.
I expect a beautiful model, that I will never own …. even with a lottery win I could not see it happening, I just cannot place a value that high on a model.
Same here, I just spend about a grand on some fancy computer equipment but I don’t think I could ever justify spending the same on a single model.
Plus I don’t know where I’d keep it!
A lottery win might fix the space issue 🙂
I’ve spent well over a grand on a pc setup in the past, 10 years down the line, its obsolete and sitting in a corner unused. Least with a model/miniature it will still look awesome forever and it doesn’t breakdown or wear out lol. So a grand for something that will look awesome in my display cabinet till the day I drop dead, that’s not a bad investment.
Ooooo, and if I live for another 50 years, that’s only £20 a year, so cheap really. And when I’m old living in some home, I can then sell it as a OOP model and make some cash.
By then you could put a small engine in it and drive it around like a permobil, charging youngsters that get too close with your power-cane.
lol. You rock @hatamoto .
By then the Adeptus Mechanicus cattle prod may be a reality!
Definitely! Me saying I couldn’t personally justify the cost is not the same as thinking/saying other people shouldn’t.
I’ve known people spend £1k on some very, very weird stuff!
We all attach our own value to things @deaddave unless it was for work I wouldn’t spend a grand on a pc. As it your value you can’t be wrong
I guess I just don’t see the point of titans in 28mm scale. How do you play with it? I suppose you could use it as a scenario objective, with once side defending an immobilized titan while the other side tries to board and capture it. As others have said, titans would be awesome in a smaller scale. I’d be all over an Adepticus Titanicus reboot.
At that point we start playing on the floor rather than a 6′ x 4′ table.
Think we better make it the garden lol
If you got 10 players with Titans together and played a game in a garden (with extended “realistic ” weapon ranges) that would be pretty damn awesome
If you did it on a beach you could make a sandcastle city and actually have the titans stomping around and demolishing the city.
haha
Some people build huge miniature railways in their gardens, I would build a huge wartorn landscape with tanks and Titans and thousands of soldiers and planes and stuff flying around.
It would be seriously epic. In fact this is my new plan for retirement.
When you do it, open it to the public as an attraction lol
Can’t say I’d ever want to buy one as the price has to be totally nuts BUT it’s a really impressive model and an impressive showcase of what Forgeworld can achieve should they want to, I can’t wait to drool over some pics on internet painting galleries a few weeks after it’s released!
This is a case of, I’ll never own one but it makes me happy knowing that they exist 🙂
I have to be honest and say that if forgeworld put their usual attention to detail on it (if it really is going to happen) it will look amazing and will be worth the money. However you have to appreciate its value to you and not what someone who doesn’t buy into what forgeworld is about thinks, of what some might see as an expensive toy (or folly if you will). I’m all for British eccentricity, life is boring otherwise and regardless of the practicalities of fielding such a behemoth, we in truth would all think it was F’ING awesome… Read more »
