Lion El’Jonson Returns To Warhammer 40K In Arks Of Omen
March 23, 2023 by brennon
Valrak was right. The Lion has returned to Warhammer 40,000 with a brand-new miniature from Games Workshop. A new Primarch for the forces of the Imperium now joins his Battle Brother as they look to take down Vashtorr and the other forces of Chaos that have amassed as part of the Arks Of Omen series.

The Lion has awoken from his sleep deep within The Rock and as part of the final book in the Arks Of Omen series, he is going to be clashing with Vashtorr and Abaddon as the new storyline meets its climax. He gets a brand new miniature as you can see here, showing off the age of this venerable knight who is back to lead the Dark Angels against their most hated foes.
Lion El'Jonson, Primarch Of The Dark Angels - Details // Warhammer 40,000
Lion El'Jonson doesn't come with his famous sword from The Horus Heresy as a certain individual is carrying that around with him but that doesn't make him any less of a potent combat master. He does also carry The Emperor's Shield into battle which deflects all but the most deadly of attacks.
It will be fascinating to see just how Lion El'Jonson takes to being awoken at this particular moment in the Imperium's history. I would think that he has quite a few things that he'd like to bring up with Roboute Guilliman and there is still the small matter of The Fallen to deal with.
Lion El'Jonson gets a few neat head options for you to choose from which accurately reflect his different moods in the morning. I think this goes from "full of coffee to not enough coffee" if you go left to right.
Lion El'Jonson, Primarch Of The Dark Angels - Helmets // Warhammer 40,000
I like the hooded and unmasked version of Lion El'Jonson which gives him that wandering knight vibe. I would imagine that we're going to be seeing a lot of different conversions coming up for this particular Primarch that could end up going into a range of other armies.
Arks Of Omen - The Lion
The story will be told through the new Arks Of Omen book which is packed with narrative elements that explore the climax of this particular storyline in Warhammer 40,000.
Arks Of Omen - The Lion // Warhammer 40,000
This book will see the forces of the Dark Angels and the Blood Angels (alongside Dante) coming together to battle the forces of Chaos. As we've seen that 10th Edition is coming, it seems like things might turn out ok for the Imperium...
Dark Angels In Battle // Warhammer 40,000
...or as well as they can do in the grimdark future. I would imagine at least a few people are going to die or be sent back into The Warp with their tails between their legs. I would really like to see Luther show up alongside more of The Fallen with some new miniatures.
Blood Angels & Dark Angels Vs Chaos // Warhammer 40,000
If you've been following Arks Of Omen, this will bring this particular chapter to a close. It will be intriguing to see how the lore spins out and what other Boarding Action offerings we get as part of the final book.
What do you make of The Lion reborn?

When he arrives on a gaming table, how many people are going to break out singing, to the baseline of “One Nation Army”, “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” – on repeat?
(You can thank Arbitor Ian for pointing out the resemblance and generating that idea in my head.)
I cannot unsee that now haha
Lol.
Johnson wakes up after 10000 years kip, sees all the Primarises:
“Ooh haven’t you all grown!”
Wow, Charles Dance has joined the Primaris brigade now!!!Last saw him in Game of Thrones. This does look a great sculpt though. The hooded unmasked head is my favourite.
Got to say even with no interest in 40k gaming anymore that is a rather nice miniature and better than the last excessive foot on rock golden child.
Now I expect space Jeremy Corbyn will have a few things to say to robo girlyman.
Finally he is here! And he does look really good.
It’s Richard Stilgoe
Gotta admit, that is a pretty nice-looking model.
I thought he’d be taller….
He’s just further away?
Amazing model almost so good it is a bit scary to want to paint it with all the detail. I really like the fact they aged the model as well but gave us different heads we can use. A lot of the community have suggested a Charles Dance vibe with Tywin Lannister which I can see it would also fit the Lions style of dealing with people I suspect.
With no interest in the gaming side of 40k; I gotta say that’s a nice model. Bringing back The Lion is pretty epic and will make an amazing narrative.
Been looking forward to seeing him come back for a long while now.
I’ll be getting on to lead my Dark Angels…
I’m just hoping 10th edition can get me back into the whole hobby.
The Lion was a good start to get me interested in the painting side of the hobby at least. I hope I can keep at it!
Ooh I would go full wing helmet with him.
Mr Jonson has returned (Andrea has woken Warren from his quick kip.)
Both the Lion and Warren have the same temperaments, Honour , fortitude ,faith , and Love for his children.
Will have to get the figure and dedicate it to the Johnson’s of Colraine when I add it to my Dark angel chapter lol.
Welcome back Big boy.
It’s a great looking figure, but did Chaos really need another returned Primarch? 😉 😛
I was happy with the Charles Dance comparison – however I cannot un see Jeremy Corbyn now!
Helmet option for me I think!
Looking forward to getting this to add to the Primarch shelf of my display cabinet. Also looking forward to Pete the Wargamer turning this into Konrad Curze – as per his Youtube post!
So we’ve got Daniel Craig as Roboute Guilliman, Charles Dance as Lion El’Jonson, wonder who they’ll get to portray the next Primarch, Aleksander Skarsgard as Leman Russ? Jason Momoa as Jaghatai Khan? maybe get Terry Crewes or Idris Elba to portray Vulkan? or perhaps they’ll get Alan Ritchson to play Rogal Dorn
