New Necron Lychguard & Triarch Preatorians
October 15, 2011 by beerogre
It wouldn’t be a Games Workshop relaunch without some brand new infantry models and this one will be no exception.
Darrell has always complained that the Necrons needed some powerful melee punch… so check these out…
The Lychguard and the Triarch Preatorians…
The Lychguard are coming in with a choice of Warscythes or Hyperphase Swords with Dispersion Shields.
The Triarch Preatorians can be equipped with Particle Blasters & Void Blades or Rods of the Covenant… Power Weapons that come with an AP2 assault!!!
Here's links to all the NEW Necrons

thay look soooo cool about time they got redone. cant wait to read about them in this month white dwarf =D
The tabbards seem a bit out of place.
Could they not just unscrew the groinal attachment like Kryton from Red Dwarf to preserve modesty?
Other than that they look OK, they also seem to be plastic rather than finecast, which is good for everyone.
I dunno, a necron coming at you with an electric whisk sticking out of its trouser-parts seems like nightmare fuel to me… also now imagining them hoovering up spare parts after the battle to enable We’ll Be Back.
Definitely liking the idea of some plastic troops.
Nice hopefully we’ll finally have some more effective melee options
I like ’em. Nothing really lootable for orks. Cool non the less.
Yeah I don’t buy looteed monolith and ither BS like that. It just doesn’t work for me:)
They are moving too much in the Tomb Kings direction, which is logical and makes sense as Necrons are the warhammer version of the Tomb Kings, but they didn’t *have* to do that, they could have incorporated Vampire Counts (elements such as zombies or some such, virus infected cyborgs?). Or what I think they should have done and just stuck to ripping off Terminator.
They look fantastic. I kind off miss all the green glow from the vehicles but the new melee is very useful. Hope they have the anti psychic rule. Can’t wait for them to come out
I saw the price listings on Waylands site and it got me thinking. Firstly for those who play I wonder how many figures to a box and secondly how many are required to make an effective on table unit. Since the Failcast rip off and its follow up accessory repair kit I have noticed GW is now taking all routes to get loads of cash for very little even more than usual. I like GW figures in the main but now I am looking at single plastic figures such as those just out for Vampire counts at £8 a throw.… Read more »
Looks like Wayland are saying five to a box for the flayed ones, immortals, deathmarks and these guys. That sounds like it would fulfil a minimum unit size, but still… Also didn’t five-figure boxes used to come in at £15.50? That’s shot up by almost 25%! Oof.
GW does not aim it’s product ranges at ‘pocket money’ gamers anymore.
Their corporate policy is:
If you want it, cough up the cash for it.
If you can’t afford it, we don’t want you to play.
i think the preatorians are going to be a fast attack choice like the grey knight interceptors
At last , a good close combat units for necrons
I’m liking them both. They remind me a bit of Stargate. If Wayland Games is to be belived, Necrons are getting seven plastic kits. Personally I’m thinking that Preatorians and Lychguards are a combined box, as might be some other sets.
I’m not fond of the things on their heads, like Necrontyr mickey mouse ears, but other than that they look pretty brutal, I’m looking forward to converting them to 2nd Ed, then I’ll only need a box, some warriors, a lord and a spray can of Chrome 🙂
If the green plastic rods are no more in the new boxes I hope GW comes out with fluorescent paint to get a true Necron feel. But alas this is GW I’m talking about. Things such as fluorescent paint will never come to use from them. That’s why I stick to Vallejo.
I like these and i am not a necron player, But for some reason i can’t help get a very strong Stargate (like netdiver said ), Go’auld feel of them, esp with all the staffs, which isn’t a bad thing.
loving the Lychguard, they look awesome, but what happened to Pariahs?? are the lychguard renamed versions of them or what??
yep looks that way there hasn’t been any rumour of pariahs staying at all.
These look great and well needed the update.
