Games Workshop will be firing up pre-orders for the full Leagues Of Votann range this weekend for Warhammer 40,000. You'll be able to pick up the Codex, Combat Patrol and everything else you need to battle alongside these grim, Sci-Fi Dwarves.

Leading the way is the Codex, which comes with all the bits and pieces you need to get you playing games. Whilst the range for the Leagues Of Votann isn't massively expansive right now, there is plenty for you to sink your teeth into (or your plasma axe?). You'll find a host of Stratagems and rules for playing Crusade games with your chosen League. You'll also want to make sure you get to grips with those new Judgement Tokens and make good use of them during battle.

If you're looking to start out with the Leagues Of Votann then you'll want to get the Combat Patrol as a starting point.

This provides you with a good starting point for the Leagues Of Votann, offering up Uthar The Destined (or a standard Kahl) alongside the Beserks, Hearthkyn and Pioneers to get you to a decent Combat Patrol level. It gives you good ranged options, melee combatants, a hefty HQ choice and speedy vehicles which can take control of objectives.

When it comes to the "getting started kit" for Leagues Of Votann, there are also a few accessories that might make the cut. There is a new set of Leagues Of Votann Dice that have the look of precious gems that have been blasted from the earth by the Votann.

You will also probably want to get your hands on the Leagues Of Votann Datacards. This set will mean that you don't have to keep flicking back and forth through your Codex when it comes to activating certain Stratagems in the heat of battle. You'll also find a breakdown of the Psychic Powers that the Grimnyr can draw upon.

You can also dive deep into the entire miniatures range for the Leagues Of Votann. You have Uthar The Destined who can also be built as a standard Kahl if you prefer.

You can also add some elite elements to your force with the heavily armoured Einhyr Champion, charging forth into the midst of battle and the mysterious Grimnyr.

If you were worried that the Leagues Of Votann were not "Dwarf" enough, I think these certainly fit the bill. I do like the lore specifically around the Grimnyr and the way that they commune with the Votann, carrying forward all of that knowledge. PLUS, I also like that they have a great "Runesmith" vibe with those CORV that soak up any strange quirks in the summoning of psychic powers.
