Kill Team: Pariah Nexus & New Expansions For Warhammer 40K
February 22, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop has been showing off the new options coming out for Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. At the heart of this is the new Kill Team: Pariah Nexus set which adds new Space Marines and Necrons into the mix.
Kill Team: Pariah Nexus // Warhammer 40,000

This new set introduces you to a clash deep within a Necron Tomb Complex. There are new miniatures for both factions plus you'll also find a load of terrain which can be used to add character and cover to your tabletop. It works very nicely alongside the mats that come with the set.
The set offers up a campaign for you to play through and then you can take things beyond the Pariad Nexus with the various books and associated accessories. It's a good starter set for Kill Team and it also works as a nice way to expand on your Space Marine and Necron armies.
This is mainly because of the new miniatures you get in the set which include new characters and troops...
Space Marine Captain // Warhammer 40,000
Chronomancer // Warhammer 40,000
Heavy Intercessors // Warhammer 40,000
Flayed Ones // Warhammer 40,000
The Heavy Intercessors give you some seriously cool looking Space Marines to build into your Chapter of choice. With three wounds apiece, they are no pushover and they can carry some chunky weapons too. The Flayed Ones are also great to see as they are possibly one of the coolest units in the Necron army. Who wouldn't want to hang out with some skin-covered killers with knives for fingers?
Kill Team Killzone Sets
As well as the new set for Pariah Nexus, you can also pick up a new selection of Sector packs which offer up new locations to fight over in Kill Team.
Sector Frontier // Warhammer 40,000
Sector Mechanicus // Warhammer 40,000
Sector Munitorum // Warhammer 40,000
Each of the packs comes with a new board as you can see plus the terrain that is on display too. This makes neat locations to battle over and should vary up your games a little bit. Building on the variety, you also have the rules which are included within the sets. Again, this allows you to play around with the kind of scenarios you'll encounter with your Kill Team or Combat Patrol of choice.
Killzones // Warhammer 40,000
The Killzones book also comes with all of the rules you need for playing in these "Lethal Environments" and you'll find plenty of additional options in there two for the various ways you can play Kill Team. If you're not fussed by the terrain kits then this might be a good book to pick up instead.
Re-Released Space Marines & Necrons
The Kill Team news is cool but you've also then got some re-releases based on the original boxed set for 9th Edition. The more unique characters and troops from the core set are going to be available separately.
Honoured Of The Chapter // Warhammer 40,000

Royal Court // Warhammer 40,000
It's neat to see these miniatures available on their own, even if they are combined as part of a larger set. I guess that if you missed out the first time then you would want to pick up all of them in one go. Did you miss out on the Indomitus kit?
Are you going to be snapping up these new sets for Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team?

The terrain for the game’s is looking fantastic.
Could they paint them as ANY other chapter just for a change?
I agree, I just bought a Primaris Dreadnought and all it had was Ultramarines livery, decals and paint choices. They used to put a spread of chapter choices with their models and box art.
I thought ‘Sector Munitorum’ was an existing terrain set ?
Or has it been re-packaged for Killteam ? The rest look familliar as well.
I suspect the ‘Killzone’ book is more or less all the special rules from the various (discontinued?) Killteam terrain boxes.
Technically “Sector Munitorum” was part of the modular terrain range, incorporating some more logistical buildings and shrines as opposed to the machine-heavy Sector Mechanicus kits.
I think the Ork kill team had that machine thingy.
Not sure who had the containers …
I wish GW gave Killteam a few more unique units like they do for Warcry instead of re-releasing old kits.
I like the direction they are taking with the Necrons: some very nice models, especially the war of the worlds style tripod. Oops, I mean, quadruped. I think I will look into starting a new army.
I’m glad to see the Indomitus marine and Necron kits back- that set had some GREAT models! The Pariah nexus is also looking nice; the heavy Intercessors, as well as other Primaris wearing Gravis armor, look so much better in my opinion with their heavy, chunky styles, and the Necrons look exceptionally creepy. My only complaint is that the Flayed Ones need some more blood splattered on their hulls and claws (just got done reading “Caves of Ice,” and they need to convey more of that horror).
