New Jain Zar Leads Howling Banshees Into Warhammer 40K
September 24, 2019 by brennon
The Phoenix Lord of the Howling Banshees, Jain Zar, has now been given a new lease of life with a new model which is very fitting for a whirling dervish of death. See what you think of the model from Games Workshop for Warhammer 40,000 here...
The new model takes one of the tenants of Games Workshop design and turns it up to eleven as Jain Zar is only connected to her base by that long whip of hair! She has a lot of qualities from the old model but I think we're now seeing a lot more grace and lithe deadliness worked into the pose.
She still carries the long and sweeping Blade of Destruction and when needed she can throw her Silent Death towards her foes too, cutting them down before they get a chance to react. As a character, she is pretty deadly in close combat (as you might have imagined). With Storm Of Silence, she gets attacks based on the number of models within two inches of her after the pile in...so, that's a lot.
Next week we're meant to be seeing what mad person is going to go up against Jain Zar from (presumably) the Drukhari forces.
What do you make of the new Jain Zar?

I don’t particularly like Eldar (that is and always will be their name) but this is a pretty cool model.
Like the artel version better though but its just a matter of taste
The pose looks nice but drop that thing once and it snaps at the base with the hair… getting that back together looks like some hell of a job
I think it will be ok, because when you look at it, that hair is as thick as her leg.
Love the mini. Can’t wait to see what else the Psychic Awakening offers up.
Looks a great action pose on the figure
The original Jain Zer mini blew my mind back in the day. I’m often critical of newer GW releases but this really is a worthy successor!
Looks great.@eldarveteran ( a friend from my flgc ) will be very happy to see her.
Yep, been waiting a long time for this one. Although Im pretty pleased with my conversion from the Lilith mini.
She is bloody gorgeous and I’ll be very, VERY pleased to add her and a new squad of plastic Banshees to my already immense army!
Despite my negative opinions towards elves, that is one pretty model. I hope the rest of the new Psychic Awakening releases will be this good (still have my fingers crossed for plastic Noise Marines). It does bug me though that when GW creates a revamped version of a character for the Space Marines or Imperial Guard everyone just whines about it, but when it’s for an army like the Eldar or Necrons it’s the most amazing thing ever.
Your opinions mirror my own. Well said! Unfortunately I can’t see Psychic Awakening heralding the return of the Squats. 🙁 GIVE ME MY ARMY BACK GW!!!! #DwarfPlayersNeverForgiveNeverForget
Well, we are getting plastic sisters this year, we got updated Death Guard and a slew of updated Chaos models, so with the way things are going, anything is possible. Don’t forget we got some new Squats in Necromunda, so they’re still lurking about.
Jain Zar already was a pretty dynamic model, but it does make me intrigued to see what they’ll make of some of the stiffer lords. Karandras and Fuegan comes to mind.
the old model is nice, but felt a bit dated (i still personally love it) but this is a great attempt to gamesworkshop 2.0 this character
