Inquistorial Agents! Warhammer 40K Kill Team: Ashes Of Faith
May 1, 2023 by brennon
Games Workshop dropped another big preview today for those diving into Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team. Inquisitorial Agents clash with the forces of Chaos and The Dark Commune in a new narrative Kill Team expansion that will be following on from the end of the current season of the game.

This is a brand new boxed set that introduces two new Kill Teams but one which is focused around a narrative campaign spread over a series of scenarios. As well as being a narrative campaign, this is also a new and funky way to play Kill Team which introduces some larger forces into the equation.
The focal point of the new boxed set is the new set of Inquisitorial Agents which come as part of a new plastic kit which can be tinkered with and tweaked in a variety of ways to create a band of agents serving the whims of an Inquisitor.
Inquisitorial Agents // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
As well as some brand new miniatures that have been crafted to match the various agents that battle alongside Inquisitors in the grimdark future, there is also one miniature that might look particularly familiar to those who played the 54mm game of Inquisitor. Based on Sergeant Stone, you'll note that in the second image above there is a character that looks suitably familiar which is fun to see. It's a bit like noticing Damian amongst the Arco-flagellants of the Sisters Of Battle.
Inquisitorial Agents // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
As well as the new miniatures for your Inquisitorial Kill Team (which can be used as a standard Kill Team in your regular games), there are also some reinforcements in the form of Sisters Of Silence and Tempestus Scions which you'll be calling to aid you during the narrative campaigns of Ashes Of Faith.
As well as being able to call on them, this Kill Team will also be able to gain the support of Kasrkin, Imperial Navy Breachers, Arbites Exaction Squads, or Veteran Guardsmen if you prefer. You'll have plenty of choices if you're already an Astra Militarum player.
On the other side of the coin for this set, we have The Dark Commune and a band of Cultists who have been doing all manner of terrible things in the name of the Dark Gods. You get the Dark Commune as your core Kill Team...

...and then following them into battle are loads and loads of Cultists. The twist with this set is that you don't actually field all of these Cultists and Mutants on the tabletop all at once during games of Kill Team. Instead, you bring them into the fray as almost regular humans before then slowly mutating them and turning them into awfully "gifted" servants of the Dark Gods.

Chaos Mutants // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
This sounds like a fun idea and just what you want out of something narrative. It's good to see some fun twists on the regular mechanics and ways to make things feel a little more epic. As was pointed out in the preview, Kill Team is usually focused on the cinematic clash at the end of a movie. Ashes Of Faith will be like playing out the whole movie as it builds to its epic conclusion.
With both regular Kill Team options in the box and some additional options for this campaign, this seems like a fun set for those who have been wanting to get stuck into that Inquisitor Vs Chaos vibe from Warhammer 40,000. Pick this up and you'll also get some fun units to use in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 too.
Could you be tempted by this new Kill Team set and a narrative campaign?

I see snake is still about.
I like how they brought old inquisition characters like Sargent Stone into the boxed set. I like this but I can’t help feeling that I would rather build my own team but it’s a nice starter set.
Some of the most unfortunately un-inspired sculpts from GW I’ve yet seen. As with most folks I’m sure, I will happily keep the cards/rules and dump these turds on ebay and make my own.
