Hvarl Red-Blade Leads His Space Wolf Great Company Into Battle
February 9, 2019 by brennon
Hvarl Redblade has been put up for pre-order by the folks at Forge World so the Jarl Of The Fourth Great Company is now ready to roll out and bring death to his enemies in true Space Viking style.
This chap strides into battle with a heavy bolter strapped to his arm alongside his signature weapon. He also wears the chunky Tartaros Terminator armour into battle so he can shrug off most firepower which comes his way.
Here is some more fluff that Forge World put forth about him...
"The commander of the Fourth Great Company of the Space Wolves, Hvarl Red-Blade had a reputation as a dourly humorous and often choleric-tempered warrior, whose greatest joy was to be found in the din of war and whose battle-cunning was something of a legend. Master of his Great Company for more than five decades at the time of the Razing of Prospero, he was a veteran warlord as renowned for his scourging tactics as he was for encouraging the taking of heads from the enemy fallen as a form of competition among his warriors.
Though considered volatile and perhaps a little insane by his fellow Jarls and Thegns, Hvarl’s often striking insights into a foe’s plans and motivations made his voice one that was still well-respected in the Einherjar – his Legion’s war council – while in battle, his sharp-witted savagery was counted on by his Primarch to leave nothing alive in his Great Company’s wake."
I think that the model is ok. Not great, not terrible...just ok. I don't think I can get past the big barrel around his chest.
What do you think of Hvarl?

I don’t really 40k or 30k (or any k for that matter)* but this is a damn fine mini with one of the better paint jobs that I have seen on a Forge World mini.

Very nice. While his armor isn’t really that special it’s that head sculpt that really gives him character.
The head is what struck me too
a great figure and the paint job helps bring him to life.
so … no one has mentioned the ‘foot on rock’ pose yet ? 😉
I didn’t even notice that before you mentioned it. I was so focused on his head sculpt and armor.
I like this miniature. It’s not one of the best in the world, but it’s very nice. And I think better than most of the other FW 30K Space Wolves, which I’ve found a bit disappointing. Although I do like that newly-teased unit of guys with black armour and skull helmets!
For the price it should come with dinner and a movie. They really need to reconsider their price point, as someone in Russia is bound to have a knock-off on eBay for a quarter of the price in the next month or two. That wouldn’t happen if they were more realistic.
As a mini, just OK for me. Even the paint job looks a bit dodgy, but I have to agree with @beardragon , it’s better than a lot of others lately.
Anyone see this and not think of a certain Fat Man from the Austin Powers movies?
Get in ma bellaaay!
