I love this series, I’m learning so much. Quick question, mind that I never used a airbrush neither did I ever read much about them. Why there are instances that the paint will not come out? Is the airbrush clogging?
I always experienced similar problems. What I found that using gun oil to lubricate the air brush before painting and drip droplets in a plastic container and use the top paint only greatly reduces clogging.
Ah so it is clogging thanks
Yeah it will clog when being used for prolonged periods. Say im priming an army, I would have to wipe dried paint off the needle tip ever 15 minutes or so.
Very much tempted to do this color scheme. I have two hammer heads and one skyray for sale. Perhaps one last color before the last farewell.
What’s the PSI you are using for the OSL?
Around 15 🙂
What! You can’t end there! Lovely looking Tau army 🙂
I’m not very kind about the weathering myself, but that army looks amazing. Great job showing how easy it can be.
The army is looking great. Makes me think I have to repaint my models in a more utilitarian and mean color. Currently they’re dark red with yellow accents. Kind of an inverse of the original studio paint scheme.
I have now officially stolen this paint scheme! Love it!
Which airbrush are you using?
I think I’m using the Sparmax Max 4.
@johnlyons I have a question on the glow effect. In another video I think you did a white highlight and then did an ink covering. This seems to have given off a similar effect even though I think you used it on some hot rod cars??
as you then added some ink wash at the end would ink over white work for this to save a few steps or would the effect not come through properly?
Thanks, keep up the good work. I have been really enjoying this and the nurgle video this week.
Really good tutorial John, can I just suggest that I find it’s a good idea to decant the wash on a pallet or container to prevent contamination from any brush you might use has its possible the brush could still have any enamel or acrylic stuff still left on it and the UMP wash is clay based. Just my penny’s worth…
Keep is up John. Really fantastic work.
Keep it up John. Really fantastic work.
Ugh…too early here in the states.
the army is looking great and battle torn john.
very nice tutorials, still unsure about getting into airbrushing, but i’ll attempt to seeif I can do something similar with stimpling.
By the way, nice shirt, where’d you get a RAAF roundrel shirt from??
This is really a great tutorial, you have done a superb job here John!
At first I was a skeptic…. then I was thinking… “no, OSL never looks that good at 28mm with an airbrush.” Then… JOHN CENA!.. *ahem* John Lyons! These look awesome, it’s a Bob Ross experience for me, enforcing some hobby knowledge I know but need to recall once I get back into it! Thanks John and Bio-Organic..Weap.. *ehm* Beasts of War team!
