A High Lord Of Terra Joins The Fray In Warhammer 40K
May 5, 2021 by brennon
We had another evening of previews from the folks at Games Workshop last night. It wasn't quite as impressive as the Monday preview for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar but we did get a little peek at a few new miniatures for the Adepta Sororitas of Warhammer 40,000.
Morvenn Vahl // Warhammer 40K

Morvenn Vahl was the star of the show, a new High Lord Of Terra that has been recently promoted to a position of power. She holds the rank of Abbess Sanctorum Of The Adepta Sororitas and was seen as simply their figurehead and representative amongst the other High Lords. Turns out Vahl wasn't going to be pushed around and unlike many of her fellow High Lords, she is leading from the front, clad in her specially customised Paragon Warsuit.

Stu Black Talks Adepta Soroitas // Warhammer 40K
Able to hold her own against some of the biggest and nastiest enemies that the grimdark future can throw at her, Morvenn Vahl is a rather kickass character. I do really like the miniature, armed with the powerful Lance Of Illumination and clad in her armour, Purgator Mirabilis. The pose looks commanding and deadly and you could see her knocking seven shades out of pretty much any daemon that gets in her way.
Talking of the Paragon Warsuits, we did also get another look at them as part of the reveal. Nothing new here really but I do think that they are going to be awesome when used alongside Morvenn Vahl as an elite bodyguard.
Paragon Warsuits // Warhammer 40K
As a kind of halfway house between power armour and a walker suit, I think that these new Sisters Of Battle are looking very "rad" as the kids would say. I imagine with a bit of work you could change their poses and add more motion into the mix but otherwise, the idea of a bit mech suit to enhance your abilities seems amazing.
New Characters & Units
We also got a better look at a couple of characters with Aestred Thurga & Agathae Dolan.
Aestred Thurga & Agathae Dolan // Warhammer 40K
Aestred carries the much-loved Auto-Tapestry Of The Emperor’s Judgement and carries the faith of The Emperor into battle alongside her fellow Sisters. Agathae Dolan is also there to help buff your Sisters units on the tabletop. When she plants her own standard she is able to fire other Battle Sisters up to greater feats. These new miniatures, in particular, are a good option for those who want to make a bespoke Crusade force for the Adepta Sororitas.
Those bespoke rules for running the Adepta Sororitas in Crusade games are included as part of the new Codex which you can see below.
Codex Adepta Sororitas // Warhammer 40K
Much like the other new Codexes, this one adds in all of the new units that have been previewed over the last few weeks and months. It also tweaks weapons, points values and the way that you configure your armies, regardless of the way you like to play.
The Book Of Fire
In a slightly less exciting addition, we also got told about a new book in the War Zone Charadon series. The Book Of Fire follows Typhus' continued invasion of the system and the battle for Metallica and other worlds.
The Book Of Fire // Warhammer 40K
As well as the plans Typhus has laid out before him, we also have Be'lakor looking to plot and scheme. He will now come with rules for mixing together Chaos Space Marine and Daemon armies into one big fighting force. It looks like the mighty Daemon Prince isn't content on just ruling The Mortal Realms.
War Zone Charadon Act II // Warhammer 40K
You'll be able to find more of the nitty-gritty on all of these previews HERE. There are a few more images of the Battle Sisters we've spied before and a new terrain set. It's not the most interesting of Warhammer 40,000 previews in all honesty. I was really hoping to see the new Orks early in the week! I guess we'll wait until Friday...
Are you going to be diving into Warhammer 40,000?

nope
I do like the new Sisters models except for the Dogmata but I’m not so sure if High Lord of Terra schould be fighting in the front lines.
They do make a point of talking about that. She was a battlefield leader previous to joining the High Lords – so she’s just decided to carry on kicking ass heh. She seems suitably capable as a diplomat and war leader!
It’s still a bit strange to me, as a High Lord you duties are different to that of a general and maybe you are too valuable to fight in the front lines.
But this is a new era, the old High Lords were useless and corupt after all.
I believe she was appointed by Guilliman himself too so she’s got a lot of friends in high places!
Yes that is what the warhammer community page says and I can see Guilliman, who is a warrior first himself, promote achieved warriors for places amongst the High Lords.
I still think it’s a tiny bit strange, but i’m sure Guilliman or GW have a plan, don’t know if it is cunning one though 😉
Bear in mind that Trajaan Valoris of the Custodian Guard also holds the rank of High Lord of Terra, so it’s not out of the realms of possibility for them to be found in the field, especially if they are from a more martial origin. Plus the whole Guilleman as Lord-Commander of The Imperium….
You suggest that a High Lord of Terra, tasked with the rulership of a million worlds, could possibly have better things to do than show up to a 1500 point Skirmish against a couple dozen ork boyz?
ah … the space nuns in space marine armor inside space marine armor are back …
Can we get actual useful new stuff for the non spacemarine factions ?
Hoüefully tomorow, but you know GW is Space Marines so we will probably get plenty new Primaris Lieutenant soon 😉
I’m surprised they haven’t done a primaris nun lieutenant 😉
I didn’t expect new codex for SoB this soon but I am glad that they are getting one without having to wait for long. We have seen new units for them that they were lacking but Morvenn Vahl is surely surprising one. No one expects one of High Lords of Terra to go to front lines.
I liked the rank and file range of these, but these extra units the minis just look silly to me.*
*to note I like the vampire centaurs so who am I to judge!?!
I really want to see Morvenn with a different paint job. I think the model could look really cool, but I am not a fan of all the gold and bling of that paint job. Plus, it just looks way to much a like a Menoth Warjack to me with that paint job. The Warsuits also need a much better paint job. Again, its hard to tell with such a boring paint job. Sure it fits the standard SoB scheme… but its just so much black. Way to much. Different paint jobs and they could be pretty cool.
I like the battle sister’s suits.
As much as I really want the Sororitas to have a proper “dreadnought” equivalent, going the “baby carrier” route of the Dreadknight was NOT it. These aren’t penitent engines, it makes no sense for the pilot to be bolted onto the front!
The shields look brilliant an would be great as presher doors for scratch builder’s.
Pressure doors doh?
A dreadnaught that can be taken out with a .22 calibre pistol round to the head. Design flaw maybe? That’s what happens when artists design weapons.
