New Hero Bases & Dice Sets For Age Of Sigmar & Warhammer 40,000
November 5, 2016 by brennon
Games Workshop has been tinkering away on some more hobby material for you this week. We'll kick off with the new Hero Bases for both Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000.
Each of the bases gives itself over to a full on scenic terrain piece which elevates it to fit in with the themes of the Realm Wars and Age of Sigmar. These would be rather suitable for both Chaos and Order factions of choice but maybe we'll see different sets too in the future.
The Warhammer 40,000 set is rather awesome too.
They look great and would suit all manner of different factions. Interestingly they come with optional skulls rather than simply having them added into the base. I like that little smirking nod to the community that you can add as many skulls as you want...should the mood take you.
Dice & Wound Markers
Additionally, you can also snap up some Wound Markers...
...which is a great little piece of kit for those who want to use the tried and tested method of using dice on the tabletop. It might be a small thing but I think it's a neat little set.
They also have this set of regular D6 with a nice design and base material in a variety of colours.
Named the Maelstrom Dice they have a few swirls built into their patterns and feature very clear looking numbers on them too. Everyone needs more dice at some point in their life!
What do you think of these smaller hobby bits and pieces this week?
Let us know!

The bases are too OTT for my tastes and the Wound Dice would be too confusing, a simple D6 works better (just pick blood red or a special colour to avoid confusion).
The Maelstrom dice do look kinda cool though.
Aaghhh, symbol on the one = no buy for me 🙁
I have heard, though it may be cobblers, that with the symbol on the 1 it does make it slightly more likely you’ll roll a 6.
Plus, it does kinda work that 1s are bad and they have a skull face…
I like the dice. The bases are a little much for me, but I think.would look good as objective markers.
“Wound Markers” aka a d10.
I wish they had done a pillar-base like the Vindicare Assassin one – I have a converted Eldar figure that would look great bounding-out from behind that pillar
Do I see genestealer skulls! – like the ones on Abaddon’s trophy rack! 🙂
Are the skulls on the wound dice on the 1 or the 10? Can’t tell from that picture, but if its a 10 I could see me acquiring some for general use as d10s.
Basing stuff is nice. I could see me acquiring some of those for my Tau Kill Team (that is still on the sprue….) in due course.
Wow, finally some die other than a d6 on a 40K battlefield. Now if you only rolled them for something…I know, how about the number of wounds received, making it a little more random, from owie to one-shot.
great stuff good for bases or just to have as scatter/objectives’ around the table the dice are good as well.
Let me put my specks on… Oh yes I see they do have skulls. This is definitely a GW product.
