Go Head Hunting With Forge World’s Alpha Legion Kill Team
January 30, 2016 by brennon
If you wanted to look seriously bad ass as you hunted down your foes in the Warhammer 30,000 world then I suggest checking out the Alpha Legion Headhunter Kill Team Upgrade Set from Forge World which gives you all the bits you need to deck your Legionaries out for the hunt...
Inside the kit you get pretty much everything you see on the top half of the model. This includes, to be more specific, the chest, shoulder pads, helmets and the bolters. I think these are some of the coolest looking models that they've done so far for the Horus Heresy simply because of those epic helmets.
"Headhunter Kill Teams are made up of the most skilled infiltrators and assassins in the Alpha Legion. They have access to some of the most prized wargear their Legion can provide, including special ammunition conceived specifically to penetrate armour up to and including Legiones Astartes battle plate.
In the ranks of a Legion already renowned for its ability to infiltrate, misdirect and assassinate, the Headhunter Kill Teams are nigh unsurpassed."
I love that they've bought the symbology of the dragon or hydra onto the rest of the model and really embraced it with the headgear. I cannot stress how awesome those helmets look; as if the rest of the helmet comes from within the jaws of the beast.
Are you a fan of the Alpha Legion?

I like them, but as with all things alpha legion, the sneakiest of them all, but bright metallic blue paint… Should all be in camo lol
to be fair instead of camo they did things like wear another legionaries face and power armour.
Those are some nice looking marines.
You have to love the sneaky, morally-ambiguous-Sparticus stylings of the Alpha legion. they are so treacherous that they are even playing the Ruinous Powers themselves.
I am Alpharius… 😉
I really like that colour scheme they use, I think if I were going to build a 30k army, Alpha Legion would be the one, hmm would have to hunt down that Forgeworld recipe though.
I’ll stick to Infinity models.
I really like that blue metallic color.
These look nice. If I was playing Alpha Legion I would get these guys. However, I would love to see a Space Wolves kit for something like this.
Also learning how they got that blue metallic would be cool as well.
Ok after doing some digging about on the old web I found this which is apparently the Forgeworld recipe for the Alpha Legion. It’s really rather complicated to my eye, but then since I don’t use an airbrush I’m not sure how accurate that assumption is. 1. Airbrush with thinned Tamiya Gunmetal (thin all Tamiya colours with Tamiya X-20A Thinner) 2. Airbrush from top of model with thinned Tamiya Flat Aluminum 3. Mix Tamiya Clear Green with Tamiya Clear Blue in 10/90 mix and airbrush over the model in 2 light, thin coats 4. Airbrush armour panels with Tamiya Clear… Read more »
smoother with an airbrush but also doable by hand.
I love the fanged helmets & the metallic blue.
1 you catch the target, 2 you bait the line, 3 you slowly spread the net and 4 you catch the man! Alpha Legion are obviously fans of EBM.
Most likely fighting on 242 fronts at the same time 😉 really like these bits but its too expensive for just an upgrade pack. Would definatly like to paint some of these become more accessible.
Do love the headhunter 2000 remix series of ep’s the apop cover is excellent, as is spacefrogs and funker vogt’s…
I think the EBM references could be upped if they has an Apoptygma Berzerker formation, wumpskut tactical rounds and carried combi weapons as you could say “Christ, thats a lot of combi’s” 😉
Not to forget the battle bolstering “join in the chant” special rule for grey knight troops 😉
why limit it to marines? I want my Necrons on the Front Line Assembly 😉 Or chaos having a Tactical Sekt….
