Forge World Show The True Powers Of Necromunda As They Preview The Guilds
February 20, 2018 by dracs
Forge World is bringing something new to Necromunda, the economic powerhouses of the Guilds. Three Guilds have been revealed, each controlling a vital resource or service in the Hive. So far, no details have been revealed about them, but we can make some guesses from their appearance.
The Corpse Guild
As their gothic, carrion style suggests, the Corpse Guild take care of the many cadavers the hive produces. No doubt they treat them with exactly the sort of honour and respect you would expect from the Necromunda setting.
The Water Guild
It is easy to imagine just how vital water would be to an industrial hive. However, the appearance of this guild suggests they spend a lot of time in the water themselves. That could be a frightening prospect, given the water pipes that would lead everywhere.
The Power Guild
The Power Guild have an appearance in many ways similar to the Mechanicus, which makes sense. They look like they will be bringing a lot of heat to the tabletop, which could prove a problem in the tight confines of Necromunda.
It is good to see Necromunda being expanded upon. Each of these guilds provides us with insight into an aspect of Necromunda society, as well as some intriguing possibilities for the game.
Which of these guilds catches your eye?

so Soylent Green, Tank Girl and Farenheit 451 on the table top…. Liking where they are going with the guilds was chatting to some friends who were at the horus heresy necromunda weekend at warhammer world at the start of the month, and the guilds sound like a great addition, kind of the grim dark municiple workers who are open to corruption from the various gangs 🙂 Interesting that they have renamed the prometheum guild to the power guild, but i guess that helps stop people thinking they are a renamed version of the redemptionists (who are coming as well… Read more »
There’s some very strong hints of Dune about the guilds, which 40k has always had but it’s great to seebthat side of things coming out.
I was thinking the same thing.
Will see what the inevitable freman gang will be like when the ash wastes expansion comes out, wonder if it will be like the digga’s from gorkamorka….
Van Saar has the Fremen suits already. 😉
Ash waste gangers are more Mad Max in style.
Wow – indeed! I haven’t really grasped that before. Well, there were some more or less obvious connections, especially about Necromunda: the naming and structure of Houses in Hive Primus certainly, and images as the ash wastes. Even more directly the Van Saar design (to Fremen as well as to Harkonnen). And the Emperor thing, the navigators, and, that both have a certain iconography drawing from Napoleonic clothing and ornament styles. Come to think of it, they even are similar in that distinct way of combining technology and human body, with this distinct (for lack of better words) strange sickly… Read more »
These were sneak previewed at an event about two weeks ago. I have a bunch of stuff on this thread here taken from Garro on Facebook:

Not picked up the new Necromunda and the new gangs haven’t gotten me that excited, but the hired guns and these are really appealing, may grab them for 28mm inquisitor if nothing else.
Orlocks have caught my eye, but it’s a pretty heavy buy-in to get the rules and other stuff needed to play, even if you can get full price for the gangs you don’t want from the main box (which you won’t)
Squats have pulled me into Necromunda, and I really like the Orlock’s “Mad Maxian” (It’s real adjectival phrase … honest) lore these guilds are so cool … I wonder if they are new or come from the large book of unused Jon Blanch background sketchs which wsa only recently rediscovered in their archives….
I haven’t been too excited about Necromunda but the addition of these guilds has brought me around. If the models they produce are great for these guilds I may pick them up if nothing else.
