Grey Knights are Go – Ready For Pre-Order
March 9, 2011 by warzan
So Grey Knights are go!
Details over on Games Workshop and pre-orders are also ready over at Wayland Games:
Well lets not hold back, while we're getting to the bottom of everything lets get the pictures rolled out.
Grey Knight Terminators £22.16
Grey Knight Nemesis Dreadknight £26.40
Best nugget so far is we think everyone in GK has a power weapon (ouch to us nid players) and characters will have force weapons.
So let's get speculating about what's in the book!

That army will need a hellhound flame tank full of mr sheen…
The models are lovely.. but i can’r help feeling the price of 5 grey knights is just to high.. but they will sell im sure and GW will make a healthy proffit.
According to the codex info on the GW site. They are all going to be very expensive points wise and have awsome stat lines.. a true elite army.
My friend is going to collect them so i will have the chance to fight them soon after the new release. looking forward to it. 🙂
It’s £20 on the GW website for 5 grey knights in power armour. They really are taking the f%&king p*ss.
Hmm. The terminators are my favourite I think and one thing to notice is that there’s an apothecary upgrade. Not sure what that is on the backpacks of one of the standard squads of grey knights.
Read Draigo’s description it says he rose to grand master since defeating a daemon, yet it says ever since defeating it hes been cursed to walk in the warp…?
The ones with two little pylons sticking out of the top….I believe they are the Interceptor Squads…they carry personal transporters and are the fast attack unit rumoured to be able to teleport across the board…kinda terrifying :/
ahh yep thats probably it.
Oh would you look at that, the land raider and storm raven default images turned grey instead of red now… I’m not really a fan of the magazines on the power armour guy’s storm bolters, they look too bulky and the teleport backpacks look like the Big Bad Beatleborgs or transformers kibble (the bits of the car they couldn’t make fit into a robot so they just left them hanging.) But looking at the models the winging I’ve done over the 5 man box might be a bit premature, it looks like there’s more than enough spare parts in it… Read more »
Considering they’re supposed to have the best weapons and equipment of any Marines they sure have got bendy swords…
health and safety…
personly i think the dreadknight looks like [naughty word deleted] but i do like the rest
Yeah, it’s not very Space-Marine-y is it? I’m really not feeling it. Even the Penitent Engine looks better than this.
Oh it isn’t too bad. I think it would make a nice Deff Dread
Also, if you all haven’t checked the forums yet, I went ahead and made a photoshop mock up of the Dread Knight looted into a mega dread:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting-factory/forum/topic/looted-dread-knight-counts-as-deff-dread-ideas/
well the orky one is one hell off an improvement
Umm… Dreadnight anyone? Looks so cool, like the idea of not having to die before you get to use it. The pilot looks like his fine in his tactical Dreadnought armour while being strapped into an dreadnought. I wonder dose he get a 2+ armour save or an armour value? Or if you shoot at his front the man takes the hit and rear and sides the armour takes the hit. somthing like that.
Just noticed its got a Warjack look to it, just the massive shoulders and the proportions of it.
Looks very similar to the things in avatar to me, how the human moves controls the rest of the machine…
He’s got a Terminator save. 2+ /5+
With the Nemesis Force Sword equipped, the invuln save goes to 4+ in CC.
The Dreadknight is a monstrous creature so it always takes the hit on its toughness which was something obscenely high like 7 or 8 in the leaked codex, but supposedly toned down in the final version.
Nemesis Dreadnaught has a Strength of 7 and a Toughness of 7. Point Cost of 130 If you don’t want to add any different weapons to him.
Will probably have an armour value like an walker, but open topped. I like it anyway and that it dosent look Space marinish i sa positiv thing. the are supposed to be diffrent. Im counting down to the realese. 🙂
The store here had a copy to look at. The Dreadknight’s like a Wraithlord. Can’t remember most of the statline but it’s toughness 6 with a 2+ armour save and a 5+ invuln.
Can’t remember any more than that, I’m afraid.
When I say like a Wraithlord, I mean there’s not special rules for the pilot, it’s just treated like a Monstrous Creature.
I was originally planning to drop about 300 quid on new stuff since they come out around my birthday, but having seen the new stuff my attitude is a bit meh. Dreadknights are fairly sweet, but the regular guys are freaking expensive at 5 for 20 odd quid. I think the majority of my army is going to be staying as metal GK’s with just the occasional new thing thrown in.
yeah aesthetically there isn’t that big a difference either, I think the PA GK just look more space marine
Yeah, I liked the old sculpts better. These ones aren’t unique enough.
As I hoped, I don’t like them. Thus saving me from another marine army.
thank god for that
pretty cool – but the Australian price is > x2 the UK price ….
Would you guys in the UK buy a Dreadknight – for $90 or 56 quid ? or the codex at $48
being 30 ?
No wonder so many ppl grey import from Wayland etc. That is what we are indeed being expected to cough up. I have always known GW markup but this takes the proverbial biscuit. So GW if your AU sales are down – guess why ?
It’s the same in the US and the boxes have ‘made in USA’ on them. Wallet raping bastards. I’m so sick of games workshop it’s not even funny.
Is it me our was the Dreadknight in the last Matrix movie
I thought the same.
Yeah I was thinking that too, I just want to see if anyone else noticed it too. I’d like to make a marine loader to run around with a trolley of ammunition, and he’d start the game in reserve and when he reaches the dread, the dread can rapid fire all it’s weapons and twinlinked if not already. Just like in the matrix.
I’m liking the models, though the prices do seem a little steep.
I adore the GK power armoured helmets… I think I may buy a box just for them, to be scattered around my existing marines. Chapter Champion anyone?
When I look at the Dreadknight, a movie quote comes to mind…
“Get away from her you B**CH” – Ripley
I just watched that on the weekend.
dammit gw, I was thinking of buying a nid army but now I am thinking again about a gk army… I hope the ws of every unit is still 5 otherwise it are just marines with fancy toys
by the power of grey skull
those dreads look like the things from the matrix they look a bit crap
Stat wise they are far from crap, being Heavy Support with high stats, and a Psyker to boot, though they point cost is a little steep if you to add better weapons then the two Nemesis Doomfists or keep the Fists and just add the Personal Teleporter
Meh not impressed
These look like something out of some saturday morning cartoon, a badass cartoon, but a cartoon none the less. They simply don’t have that grim dark feel to them. I don’t think they did well with these, at least not as well as the BA or the SW ranges and certainly not as well as he DE range.
meh…. As people have said before. The PAGK’s look too run-of-the-mill Mariney. Dreadknight… I don’t see why they wouldnt just get a dreadnaught instead. I think its because they restricted themselves with the fluff.
termies poses are.. not as good as the metal ones…
just… eh.. not appealing at all.
Well, the hero is a kind of Lysander redone…
And the Dreadknight still reminds me:

Or this

Even the bots at Matrix Revolutions!!
But it is great!!
I was thinking about actually trying out GW again and figured since these guys are so expensive points wise they would be a bit easier on the wallet. Unsurprisingly, not so much. Wow the prices are expensive. $40 for 5 marines. Holy *insert expletive*!
standard guys look meh. love the termies though, TERMINATOR STANDARD BEARER!!! 😛 im getting a set of those, anyway £22.16 for a great looking terminator COMMAND squad or £27.70 for a set of boring bog standard termies? and kaldor looks immense also
I’m with you. I really like the termies. The PAGK are quite nice, but not for the price I guess, they have cool helmets. I love Kaldor he just exudes coolness…
also worth mentioning, the venerable dreadnought default image and the default image for the terminator librarian have also been ‘grey knightified’
:S third post in a row. as of 15:33 GMT
Kaldor Draigo £13.80
Grey Knights £20.50
Grey Knight Terminators £27.70
Codex £17.50
Dreadknight £33!
:O prices are going up and they’re not even out yet!
Do keep in mind a Grey Knight Terminator Squad is a five Man squad for 200 points before options and have a Psychic power.
5 Grey Knight marines for £20! A plastic box set as well? What are you playing at GW!?!?! At a time when it must surely be wiser to reduce prices and drive more money into marketing to attract new gamers, why oh why would GW set prices like this for a new release? It is just disgusting. GW are in serious danger of pricing alot of its gamers out of its products. Dont they realize the majority of us gamers are either young adults with a bit of pocket money or working professionals like me with financial commitments who would… Read more »
Its about to get worse…
It can get worse ? I love 40K, been into it for 19 years now but I sold all of my minis and codexes on ebay as I just could not realistically do it anymore. I barely played at all and a large part of that was I could never afford the minis you need to play a “real” game of 40K. I read 40K books and codexes and listen to the audiobooks all the time but other than the fluff 40K is pretty much dead for me. GW really needs to think about what they are doing. They are… Read more »

‘Fess up @warzan, what do you know?! 😉
will spill all … soon
There is another price hike coming I bet.
Not just a price hike, that’d be too simple. Ages old Orc models doubled in price overnight now £20 for 5 space marines.. Recon everything in the range will be £18/20 for 10/5 (pick your system).
As a poor @$$ university student, I can honestly say you are freaking me out man. Give us a hint….. how many zeros are we talking?
I second that! admit-ably when I heard that another space marine codex was coming out I was quite distraught. But then looking at those prices… gack! I don’t know what I’m going to do… I mean I can’t even understand why they think they can get away with this. I know GW thinks of themselves as a “premium” brand, but if this continues their going to premium their way out of my checkbook. it’s come to the point me and my gaming buddies are moving on and playing other systems, with no intention of coming back. I have great fear… Read more »
They think they can get away with it because people keep buying their stuff. Vote with your wallets.
Here, here! Well said that man! You also end up with £10 of spare bits you can’t use that sit in your bitz box gathering dust. Its bullsh*t!!!
