Have Grey Knights pinched someone’s IP?
March 10, 2011 by beerogre
I wonder if someone at GW was watching YouTube before they came up with the idea for the Dread Knight?
Only kidding. Despite that... this suit is awesome... in that lovely weird Japanese way!

Japanese folks… Always a freaky step before of all
That it uncanny, it even has a hunter killer in its arm!
Although for me the Dreadknight looks like two other things, first being a headless parent with their sprog in a baby harness, second being a massive target.
I… Want… One!!!
It’s neither’s new idea really is it? Matrix, avatar, district 9 to name a few of the mainstream movies with powered fighty exo-skeletons in them in the last few years !
And lets not forget Iron Man. That comic is from the 60’s.
i want one!
agreed it’s not a new idea, however the matrix and avatar are film and this guys actually built one!! it show what constant fear of godzilla attack can inspire people to do.
True dat!
Simpsons did it…. oh wait. I mean Aliens did it.
If it was not for the hands on the the exo’s I would say these models look sweet. The hands though, they just do not look like the belong.
that is epic!
32 years ago it was in the movie Aliens – Sigourney Weaver fighting the Queen Mother Alien. The Matrix and Avatar are just modern versions. GW’s is just a complete rip-off of all of the above. It would be nice to see GW get pinched for IP theft – not as much fun when the shoe is on the other foot, eh?! If you watch TV in the US – they had a special on the US military working exo-skeleton 6-7 years ago. It was more compact, closer to the body and they were lifting HUGE weights with one hand… Read more »
Slap some smoke stacks on the back and you have the begining frame for a Warjack.
I wish they’d put on some thin plate covering to make it look a bit more substancial and less like an anorexic drunk ogre stumbling about the place
technically they can not claim a copyright on anything but the name and the exact design since something comparable is a real piece of technology. And the way i see it the Dreadknight seems very much like the landmates from Appleseed
no because that was uploaded march 2nd 2011 and the model was releaed a few days later, we all know gw works on their models a few years before they are released, this japanesecompany would have been building this thing for a long time but I don’t see anyway gw could have known it was being made a few years earlier. In conclusion the dreadnight would have probbably been in it’s concept stages whilst this was being put together but there is deffinatly no way they could have seen someone else working on somthing like this
oh and by the way most other sci-fi stuff is a rip off of somthing, avatar is just pocahontas in space
so true it isn’t even funny…
i usually think of it as dances with wolves in space but that works too
mmmmm gundam prototype 😀
well, one thing about that suit is that theres no motor asist, the hands are just wires, so the strenght is less than one to one, the arm might be a bit better, and the speed should also be a bit better than a normal human, but i say put an engin in it, and some hyrolics. On the pluss side, that suit is enviromentaly friendly.
