Genestealer Cult Vehicles & More On The Way For Warhammer 40k
September 27, 2016 by brennon
A number of different vehicle options are on the way for the Genestealer Cults who have risen up to take over the world of Warhammer 40,000. We'll start with the vehicle teased as part of one of their recent videos (seen above) and in other publications, the Goliath...
These are large vehicles used by the Imperial forces on the worlds they infect that have been turned to a better use. There is the basic Truck which you can see above as well as the Rockgrinder which used to be a mining vehicle.
A lot of people have really been liking the look of these vehicles and it's great to see more of the Imperium hitting the tabletop, even if it's done with the logo of the Genestealer Cults plastered all over it.
I like the big chunky vehicles which have a very Imperial feel to them and they seem like the perfect vehicles for the Cults to take control of as they aid them in getting closer to the enemy so they can strike.
As well as these new vehicles Games Workshop has also put together kits allowing you to use the likes of the Astra Militarum Chimera and Leman Russ for your Cult army. You can see them in the White Dwarf leaks HERE.
Additionally, you'll also get a look at the collected HQ set, the Broodcoven, as well as the Iconward and a Hybrid kit allowing you to bring Imperial Guardsmen to the tabletop with a Cultist flare.
The launch of the Genestealer Cults as an army has been a very interesting one from Games Workshop and it appears to have as much of an appeal as the Adeptus Mechanicus did when it launched.

Will you be joining the Cult?

These vehicles would look excellent with an Ork army I think, very little to alter to make it orky looking.
I really like the goliath vehicle. The one with grinding attachments at the front it pretty cool as well
😎
I bet this will be like printing money for GW.
…even though it looks like they have given up on originality!
Yep, I believe this model range will be a big seller for GW. I get the feeling that people (gamers, collectors, painters) have been waiting for the Cult to reappear.
The Cult is nothing if not patient… 😉
they don’t look very much like limo’s to me….. Just kidding, i love em, heavy duty trucks are sweeeeet. I think Limo’s in this army wouldn’t work anymore. 40K doesn’t really allow for stuff that can’t take a beating. Unfortunately I don’t think the game, certainly not the player base, are capable of allowing such narrative things as a shady Limo to last more than turn 1 on a table (I am aware noone has mentioned the Limo on this article yet but its the one thing everyone has been chucking around since the genestealer cult announcement 😀 thought i’d… Read more »
It’s a shame that we didn’t get a limo for the magus and patriarch, but these are a nice consolation prize; nice to see a different view of the Imperium than we usually get. Would be nice if this leads to codicies for Arbities, Chaos Cults and maybe even Underhive gangs featuring other non-front line/non-military vehicles.
Have pre-ordered the codex, not sure yet if I’ll pick up a goliath or two, but it’ll be hard to resist them 😉
Just wait until they bring out a vehicle with the name L.I.M.O as an acronym for its name 😉
I’m thinking of using the rules for a Goliath or chimera with a kit bashed model to represent a limo (possibly the chimera as I’ve read somewhere that the stealers and patriarch can go in those but not the goliaths, dunno if that’s true though). Will need to wait until I have the codex in hand to have a read through it to plot things out and decide what I want to use as what (eg whether the IG choices available will represent IG or PDF or whatever, what could represent Ogryn hybrids, etc). About a year or so ago… Read more »
What about un-orking the Ork Battlewagon – a trans-hive convoy vehicle?

Not my conversion its from:

I saw another web-article – a wargamer completely re-modified the Ork Battle-Waggon into an Imperial truck 🙂
is the L.I.M.O thing actually happening? I thought it was just a rumour? :O Interest re-piqued.
The large imperial mining operations truck?
You are a clever man Mr Geezer
They will get a pope mobile instead. Covered in skulls, of course.
The Pope mobile – faith in action!
While wondering around the far reaches of the intertoobs (like the Webway only with more nerds, cute kitten videos, and mean spirited tweets) I found myself on a Spanish language site called Mini Wars, and they were hiding a treasure in the form of… English language images of the Genestealer Cult Magus and Purestrain Genestealer datasheets. Here’s a link:- http://www.miniwars.eu/2016/09/magus-genestealer-purestrains.html The Magus is much as he was in the Overkill 40K rules, though now has access to the Broodmind and Biomancy disciplines as well as Telepathy, which will doubtless come in very handy indeed, but then you get to the… Read more »
Goliath looks like it’s originally riot control vehicle in some Hive City that was stolen by Genestealer Cultists.
to go full circle – the turreted-vehicle kind of reminds me of this…

still wish GW had done a mega-monster hybrid…

love the vehicles the look more functional than the taurox and more a proper armoured car.
ages ago I watched news footage about the Antrim Salt Mines – giant vehicles carving away underground near Belfast – it spooked the hell out of me
http://oracleireland.com/salt/index.php
these things look awesome – they perfectly embody the idea of industry redirected to revolution 🙂
Disappointing that it’s not a limo but I take the point made above that an unarmoured vehicle would be a short lived nostalgia trip I’m today’s wh40k.
*in today’s wh40k. Stupid autocurrant.
I always thought the Limo was supposed to be a big bullet-proof multi-ton thing like the armored cars World Leaders used for the G8 – – discreet tanks 🙂
I hope the cult can have Ogryns – i think the lore says Ogyryns are used by Arbites for crowd-control and personal protection stuff – mining company security (?)
…with googles and masks the current ogryns could be made genestealery with an off-colour ink-wash 🙂
From the leaks it doesn’t look like Ogryns are available (outside of allies). Was thinking of maybe using the abberants profiles for Ogryn hybrids myself.
As for the limos being like modern world leaders’ cars, iirc isn’t the Land Raider or one of the other marine/guard tanks supposed to be a repurposed farm tractor in the fluff? Probably means the cult limos would be sturdy enough to put modern tanks to shame armour wise lol
That Goliath with the mining drill front is great! Reminds me of Total Recall (original Movie).
“HEY BENNY! SCREW YOU!!”
Love the total recall mars miner attack tunneler!
Great vehicle; I’d go so far as to say that the Taurox should have looked like this.
In fact, from the above pictures at least, it doesn’t look like it has any iconography on it (makes sense from a fluff perspective), meaning you could probably fit these vehicles quite comfortably into other games if only for scenery (I might get one for my Infinity board to sit on the streets).
Honestly, the GW that seems to be here this year, is a massive step up from the one last year. It’s night and day.
It is in impressive change for the better. Long may it continue.
White dwarf leak? More like a WD subscriber took a pic and posted it on the interweb. I know because I received my copy on Monday. Good issue though and I am tempted to start a Genestealer cult army…But I got too much stuff to paint. Maybe some day! Is it some day yet ? 🙂
