Games Workshop’s New Breacher & Destroyer Battle Servitors
May 16, 2015 by brennon
Games Workshop have put together another bundle of Adeptus Mechanicus Pre-Orders for you this weekend including the Kataphron Battle Servitors in both a Breacher and Destroyer flavour which will be pushing the more metal than man aspect of this new faction in Warhammer 40,000...
Rules & Robots
The releases focuses on the Kataphron Battle Servitors which we've seen some great images of and they seem to add more awesomeness to the already great looking Adeptus Mechanicus army. They are deceptively large and come armed with some very big guns.
Have these new units won you over to playing as this faction for Warhammer 40,000? We're not entirely sure what's going on with the nature of the Codex releases as it's all seemingly very silly but I guess there is a method in the madness. Somewhere.
What has been your favourite Mechanicus unit so far?

oh dear. Looks like someone took a look at the Lord of Battles ‘Space Marine in a tank’ idea and ran with it. Not a fan of these at all.
Love it. Saw the leaks of these and instantly thought of Sarge, from Doom 3. Got get me a mechanicus detachment with some of these.
Horrific (in a good way) and disgusting. Exactly how I imagined these type of weapons in the novels I’ve read (though I’m still waiting for regular Sevitors being used as normal troops…)
Exactly what I’d expect and how I pictured them. Bravo!
Those are too silly for my taste.
I rather like them myself, I much prefer the more non-humanoid mechanicum in the artwork and these are more along the lines of what I like. Still hoping for something along the lines of the Scylax (sp?) though.
Hmm.. Praetorians? I like them!
What is it exactly that makes these look so much like toys, rather than a wargaming miniature? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you could roll it back, then let go and watch it go shooting forward while the plasma gun flashed on and off.
Is it the over-sized guns, the post of the arms sticking out at right angles like an 80’s action figure?
it’s funny you say 80’s action figure, the first thing I thought of when I seen them was a character called Mandroid from an incredibly cheesy 80’s action movie The Eliminators. Look it up you’ll not be disappointed.
I like these. I think they look like as much of a toy as any vehicle does.
Love em. They look exactly as you picture them in the stories.
The odd, uneven sihlouette of the Kataphron Battle Servitors is deliberate – in the game lore the Mechnicum considers the flesh to be weak, and so has little use for it. All they really want from the convicts, deserters and other victims they work into their creations is their modified brains to operate in place of AIs – the rest is disposeable. As a result, replacing legs with track units to create a more stable firing platform is perfectly reasonable to the Tech Priests, as is chopping away half the skull to add hardwired targeting optics, or wiring a heavy… Read more »
I think it was the novel Dark Apostle where a massive Ad Mech army is fielded.
The above bastards I recall are clearly mentioned.
How exactly people think these look like toys? I would have loved toys like this….
I like the lot but definitely prefer the ones with less armour plating. The other guys look a little like Ork Stompas bolted onto tracks.
not to keen on this stuff.
Like these, pretorians from the fluff. What I was expecting from the range.
This new 40k Mech range is a bit hit and miss 🙁
I’ve read the rules and I do like them from a gaming perspective. I’m not a big fan of the models either. However, the tread wheels from those guys would make for some sweet Grot Tanks. 😉
