Games Workshop are back in teaser mode for Warhammer 40,000 as they shared a video talking about the return of a big bad (depending on who you ask) from the grimdark future. Are you interested to see what The Silent King has planned?

This video gives us a snippet of the lore behind The Silent King, master of all Necrons. Whilst he has never had a miniature before now, it seems like they are going to be heading to the battlefield and taking off that shroud of mystery that has surrounded him for so long.
It would be neat if the design that we see here (far left) is a hint to the way the final miniature is going to look. One would assume that he is going to be a towering figure which lords over the battlefield. Illuminor Szeras (see below) is already going to be dropping into the unfolding story of Warhammer 40,000 as part of Psychic Awakening so this perhaps gives us an idea of how The Silent King will be involved.
You can find out more about what we learned about the upcoming Psychic Awakening book HERE. The Necrons have always been a fascinating force. They are easy to paint (lots of metal), look really awesome and menacing and seem like they can hold their own on the tabletop too. I am eager to see what Games Workshop do with their story as they find themselves facing a very fractured Imperium even now.
Are you tempted to get started with a Necron force in Warhammer 40,000 in anticipation?

Hmmm…this could be interesting. It looks like we’ll be getting some new releases for the ‘crons, which will make a lot of the Necron players I know really happy. And even if it’s just Szeras and the Silent King, those are still going to be some impressive character models.
It should be interesting to see what brought the self exiled Silent King back to the Galaxy at large.
enough wild psykers to harvest to have the power to tame the trikster c’tan that convinced them to turn into robots and reverse the change, expect the tau will bumble into the plot and balls it up with dark eldar/Ynnari/harlequins plotting to let the ‘rons do all the hard work and nick the deus ex machina they create for there own ambiguous designs. That or it will be annother boring imperial saviour story, all hope is lost until bobby g rides in on a rainbow unicorn poses a logical fallacy question to the ‘rons and they deactivate with a divide… Read more »
The back story will be fun to read.
Will there definitely be a new model? The formula for the Psychic Awakening series has seemed to be to use each book to give new rules to several factions and just one new model to the two main protagonists. We know that this one will feature Szeras and the new Inquisitor. I woulnd’t be surprised if this is it (and the Silent King remains a story / background presence rather than a new, playable unit).
Fingers crossed for a new model!
