Games Workshop is cracking open a copy of Urban Conquest for use with Warhammer 40,000, giving you a chance to play out campaigns amongst a ruined cityscape.

Urban Conquest - Games Workshop

One of the first things you'll have noticed in the box is the mass of plastic. The plastic makes a lot of new terrain pieces for use in your games of Warhammer 40,000 making things like this...

Urban Conquest Terrain - Games Workshop

...giving you a sense of the splendour that used to adorn the streets of whatever city you might be fighting through. It's also very suitable terrain for hiding behind! You will also find some neat Objectives mixed in with the terrain for when you want to try and avoid using little gems and plastic tokens.

Urban Conquest Objectives - Games Workshop

'In world' objective tokens are always more interesting to see on the tabletop I think and I love some of the relics here like that power sword being clutched in the dead hand of some famous hero. These pieces immediately start to tell a story rather than you just going to retrieve objective A for the sake of it.

As mentioned above, the set also allows you to play through campaigns in urban environments and Games Workshop has put together an alternative take on this where you'll be able to slot various cards into the array, creating your own cityscape.

Urban Conquest Cityscape - Games Workshop

This means that whilst there's plenty of similar locations out there on the board you can tailor things to fit the kind of campaign you want, and it means your campaign might be slightly different from someone else's too.

You'll of course also get the book within this box which will give you all of the rules, scenarios and more for playing out games in urban environments even away from the campaign system. The campaign is called 'Streets Of Death' so you better be ready for a bloody scrap. To be honest, in the world of Warhammer 40,000, who was expecting anything different?

Maybe this fellow will make an appearance soon for your Chaos force, leading a campaign through the city to burn it to the ground?

Chaos Champion - Games Workshop

It'll be cool to see what people do with this set and maybe we'll get a chance to get stuck in here at OnTableTop too?

Are you going to be picking this up?
