Games Workshop Chat Chubby Cherubs For Battle Sisters Armies
October 29, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop is getting ready for the release of the Adepta Sororitas with another preview looking at the multitude of Cherubs which are joining the Sisters Of Battle as they take to the battlefields of Warhammer 40,000.
Cherubs are a different form of servitor which has been vat-grown by the Adeptus Mechanicus. They have then been given the means of flight and now are used by the Ecclesiarchy all over the place, especially in the midst of battle.
As well as being used to chant litanies and bring the word of The Emperor to the battlefield they can also support the Sisters Of Battle with an array of options which are built into their bodies. These chubby little fellows could potentially fix your weapons in the midst of a fight, deliver medical aid to your Sisters as they take damage or maybe even deliver a nasty surprise right to the doorstep of the enemy.
Yes, those are Cherubs carrying bombs. More options are going to be revealed when the Codex comes out next month but it seems like you've got a lot of fun options in the mix when it comes to building a new Adepta Sororitas army.
Again, this feeds more into the warped horror of the grimdark future so it won't be for everyone but I love this mockery of such a normally beloved little 'creature'.
Are you going to be painting up your Cherubs in an angelic way or going for something else?

I have been wanting to get some and use as the wounds of my characters for a while.
A medical cherub is always a handy thing to have for the commander’s.
Are they making one with bagpipes?
I know these have been in the fluff for a log time but, honestly, I don’t care what benefits I can get from them, my SoB army will not include any of these.
Why not?
Not my fluff. I dislike the Cherubs as an idea and I’m not that fond of the models. As I paint, and play, to my fluff these will not exist on my table. The same is true with psykers, my fluff, my SoB, will not suffer a pskyer to live. If they are sent any guard units to support them the first thing they do is kill all the pskyers. They’ve been known to shoot a Commissar or two as well
It’s always good to have a strong concept for an army, so that’s all fair enough.
I like them, but I’ve always liked the very medieval look of the SoBs, and the cherubs feed into that for me.
They could useful to rep servo skulls in Necromunda.
Ah, the Cherubs of 40K: When a servo-skull just isn’t creepy enough. There’s nothing wrong with them, and they do fit into the fluff of both the Astartes and Sororitas, but I dunno; something about a mutant, cybernetically-enhanced baby flapping around behind you is a little unnerving.
Er no…. I do enjoy my 40k, but have no interest in this. There are going to be some who really like this and that’s good, for most this will be a hard pass though I suspect.
GW is doing a great job protecting their IP by making things no other company would want to copy.
