Forge World’s Konrad Curze Leaps From The Darkness!
December 5, 2014 by brennon
Forge World have added another Primarch to their collection and this time it's the deadly Konrad Curze of the Night Lords. See what you think of this bloodthirsty warrior of the night...
Now that is one impressive looking miniature perched atop the rubble with his slain enemies all around him. The detail is once again amazing for one of these sculpts and they've pulled out all the stops for their Primarches as they always do.
"Attacking from darkness with inhuman ferocity, Konrad Curze, the Night Haunter, inspires terror in the hearts of his prey and subjects alike. A vicious combatant, Konrad wrested control of his world, Nostramo, from criminals and corrupt overlords, and began a reign of terror that ensured order through fear. After taking command as their Primarch, his Legion, the Night Lords, gained a reputation for brutality and looked to bring judgment rather than deliverance to worlds reclaimed for the Emperor during the Great Crusade."
Konrad has pretty much flayed the poor soldiers lying at his feet! I can't wait to see what people are going to do with him away from the official paint job above.
What do you think?

That looks awesome. Granted that he does look a lot like space vampire in heavy armor.
That is a beauty of a mini. I’ll be having that!
Another one to add to my list of FW wants.
He looks kinda boring for a Primarch that’s meant to be really dynamic… the whole ‘foot-on-terrain/rock’ is way over done in this series. They already screwed up Mortarion. I’m interested to see what they will do for Leman Russ and Magnus the Red.
I’m quite looking forward to how they’ll do Magnus the Red. 😀 He’s always been my favourite Primarch.
I like how he’s balancing on the ruin. Quite ninja-like for a 12ft bodybuilder in power-armour.
Konrad always was the most troubled of the Primarchs – the novels Vulkan Lives and Unremembered Empire from the Horus Heresy series really help to convey how the other Primarchs view their wayward brother, the fearful legends that surround him amongst the less exalted Imperial citizenry, and Cruze’s own intense self-loathing. Unremembered Empire in particular also includes scenes that really showcase how dangerous Curze is while stalking the shadows, even whilst operating alone within the stronghold of his enemies. While it is difficult to really convey that type of inward turmoil in a model, this sculpt certainly presents a very… Read more »
I agree. I love the lines of the power armour. They remind me of Gary Oldman’s armour from the prologue to Coppola’s Dracula movie. I personally would have liked him to be posed differently, maybe something more savage and dynamic that conveys his dark and other world’y nature. This ‘perched on ruins’ look is a bit overdone now. Still, I guess they are display models. It works for me overall though. Another solid release in this great series.
Fook me!!! That’s awesome sauce!
Why can I see someone doing a conversion of him riding a surfboard…
I’d have loved to have seen it be a mix of the battle between him and the lion but overall fantastic work. Poor guardsmen.
I’ve a feeling that that will happen, this looks like a base that fits into another one, like the Ferrus one did.
I like it, big fan of the entire series to be honest, although as with some of the others, not sure about the painting style, I think a darker blue with high contrast between light and shade would really bring out the armour on this one.
This looks really, really nice. I think one of my favourites of the series. I do wish the dead bodies on the base were marines though. It’s not that these guys don’t look fantastic, but I’d prefer him to look like it was a scene from the Isvtaan massacre. Maybe they couldn’t think of a way to do any more marine bodies on a display base and have them look interesting?
He doesn’t have any ranged weapons. Couldn’t you just shoot him?
His rules and background from the Horus Heresy series describe how he doesn’t really use guns but instead favours a type of ultra high tech throwing knife that can penetrate armour and even energy fields. As a Primarch, he can throw several of these pointy kitchen knives of doom at a time with incredible speed and accuracy to target vital organs. There is also the point that, as the steathiest of Primarchs, he gets Stealth and Shrouded as standard (along with a fist full of unique special rules), and is generally really hard to draw any kind of bead on… Read more »
now that’s how to stand on a rock.
quit a nice piece.
I was going to argue the stealthy point in regards to Corax , but I suddenly thought Corax isn’t about the the stealth , it’s about a diffenrent way of fighting that space marines adopt , a much more tactical way , innovative staregys , which 40k rules don’t allow!
But great model , impressed with most of this series , and can’t wait for the lion , the wolf and the raven
