Forge World’s Gabriel Angelos Leads The Blood Ravens Into Battle
July 31, 2017 by brennon
Forge World added a new character to their collection for fans of the Blood Ravens, made famous by the Dawn Of War PC games. Here we have Gabriel Angelos, Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens shown here modelled after his appearance in the latest game set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000.
He is shown here wielding his powerful God-Splitter Daemonhammer which has laid waste to plenty of Orks and heretics in its time. You can actually find the rules for him HERE as part of a free PDF download that Games Workshop put together.
I think the model as a whole works quite nicely and it's good to see him finally on the tabletop to help support the growth of the Blood Ravens as a Chapter. However, if I was to pick out something I didn't like; I don't think the facial details have come out very well here. It doesn't look as sharp as I would have liked for such a key character.
What do you think of Gabriel Angelos?

What on earth is going on with that head? He looks like Herman Munster.
hahaha, spot on there… hmm, theme tune stuck in my head now, never going to be able to take the blood ravens seriously ever again haha
Didn’t you know that Herman Munster was a space marine from dah future ?
I really like that one. Something good has actually come from let down that is DoW3.
“It doesn’t look as sharp as I would have liked for such a key character”. Rather, it’s too sharp. Like something of a reject Frank Miller character. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something which demands some sort of artistic coherency with the rest of the Space Marine line-up.
I’ve pre-ordered this… but he’s becoming part of my Stone Templars. So he’s getting “modified” once he arrives with me 🙂
If only this was his DoW incarnation, I really liked the facial design of that Gabriel Angelos.
I think a lot of my problem with some recent FW models is the paintjob. Let’s be clear, it’s far far better than anything I could ever do, but the skin tone is a bit pink. I think this is a great model (that lightning!) and someone (not me) could do a much better job of it.
The proportions are just silly. His heads sits on his hip.
Primaris Marines really changed everything.
Be interested to see this one in bare resin, as based on the pic that is a terrible sculpted face wise. Certainly recent pics from forgeworld are not looking good. However not sure if that is the paint job (cabinet stuff generally looks good) or photography but it is not doing them any favours
