Forge World’s Astraeus Super-Heavy Tank Pre-Orders Begin
November 18, 2017 by brennon
Forge World has now opened up pre-orders for its Astraeus Super-Heavy Tank, the first big monster of a vehicle for the Primaris Space Marines.
Here's what they had to say about the tank itself, which is ridiculous but I'm sure a lot of people out there do like this beast...
"The Astraeus is a super-heavy tank, similar in form to the smaller Repulsor transport in use by the newly created Primaris Space Marines. It mounts a formidable array of weapons, designed around a pair of immense macro-accelerator cannon.
Providing a stable firing platform for these temperamental weapons are banks of enhanced repulsor plates, allowing the inexorable advance of the Astraeus to continue unhindered by hostile terrain or the vain defiance of the foe, while its layered void shields can shrug off even the most devastating weapon strikes. The Astraeus is a symbol of the Imperium’s might, unbowed by the dawning of a bloody new millennium and unbroken by the onslaught of its foes."
I can't help but think that it would have just been nicer with tracks, but then again I suppose they have to do something different with the Space Marines rather than just rehashing some of their older vehicles.

Will you be picking one up?

I rather like the design of this. It’ll no doubt be a beast on the battlefield.
Not best model that FW has produced so far. Far from it.
Just like all the Primaris stuff…. I think it’s damn f’ugly…
Fell out the fugly tree and hit every branch on the way down… Then the tree fell on it.
I think that would have been better in EPIC scale.
Really like it, fits in well with the Primaris.
I’m not sure what to make of this yet! Safe to say I will not likely spend the money to own one 🙂
It looks like 4 tanks chopped up and glued together in the wrong order. I just don’t understand how FW who have produced some really stunning models could have let this monstrosity out.
Stylistically it’s a bad cut-and-shut job. I’m not their target market but FW have really missed the target here.
Great sci-fi model, it’s a bit too gigantic for my taste but I’d see it well in 15mm or 6mm (for Epic)
thor’s hammer would be great for a assault tank falling in with pods/birds for heavy fortification’s.
