Forge World Gives Us A Glimpse Inside Horus Heresy Tempest
May 13, 2015 by brennon
Forge World have given us a glimpse inside the pages of the new Horus Heresy Book Five: Tempest which details the attack by the Word Bearers on the Ultramarines at Calth.
Titans, Lots of Titans...
First up we get a full view of the Titans in action with an amazing piece of artwork. It shows off the smaller Warhound and such below a mighty Warlord Titan dominating the skyline. While it won't be that big on the tabletop (by scale) it's still going to be impressive.
It's going to be amazing seeing how they actually turn out. We've seen a picture of the foot/leg, the two arms and even a bit of the head already and they are massive.
Brother Against Brother
As well as the Titans there are of course a whole host of Space Marines on the planet duking it out with each other. Lorgar will be facing off against Roboute Guilliman with the Word Bearers and Ultramarines respectively...
There is already a character for Lorgar but it will be interesting to see Roboute Guilliman finally takes shape for the Horus Heresy Character Series. It still dazzles me seeing the amazing armour designs of the Pre-Heresy and Heresy period; it all looks so much cooler than it does now!
Will you be getting this?

Very excited as my legion finally get their rules and Primarch.
Looking forward to the weekend, although my wallet isnt! 🙂
That picture reminds me that I always feel a bit sorry for Spacemarines.
Their legs are genetically reengineered to be semi-reptilian.
Must make for uncomfortable walking with your feet 2 meters apart, and put a terrible strain on the joints
On the plus side, it is good for rockin and a rollin at a Status Quo concert.
The Sons of Quo! Now there is an idea…..Noise Marines id say…
I never thought they could turn it up to 11 and being Noise marines! lol
How come the CSMs have much larger back-packs than the regular chaps even during the Horus Heresy ear?
All the better to hang trophy heads from….
Although if the fluff doesn’t exist i expect its because dark mech or stolen STC. In reality its probably because early CSM mini’s were just spiky horny marines so needed some more distinguishing features, have a feeling some of the earlier ones were khorn symbols rendered in backpack form…
You have to remember that the traitor legions at the start of the heresy were equipped just like the loyalists. Then over the course of the 7 year war, they warped into the chaos marines we are used to seeing in 40k. You can think of it as being similar to historical gaming; armies will look and be equipped differently at different stages in the conflict.
The Word Bearers were the first legion to turn to Chaos and will be the most corrupted at this stage in the war.
It’s going to be amazing seeing how they actually turn out. We’ve seen a picture of the foot/leg, the two arms and even a bit of the head already and they are massive.
Well I would say we have now seen a picture of the finished product, although not as clear as seeing unaltered shots of the model.
Looks nice, just waiting to see the price tag.
What I mean is that isn’t artwork artwork that is a manipulated photo of the finished Warlord model.
Niiice! FW, you are doing it right!
Another gorgeous book for the collection. I’m glad to see that this new book is adding more non-marine forces. Hopefully there will be some new minis for these and they won’t just reuse existing Solar Auxilia and Chaos Marauder minis.
Girlyman looks really amazing. Just the right amount of nobility.
Cold. Aryan. Flawless.
god I hope they make that mini right.. I so want it to be awesome
Even though I’ve said to friends numerous times I want to get the whole character series and the books, I haven’t yet. This will be my first for certain! The Ultramarines have always been my chapter/legion from the very beginning!
may have to get this one.
I have heard people say that they think that this rendition of Guilliman looks a bit like Stannis Baratheon (as played by Stephen Dillane in Game of Thrones) about him – could we have found the actor to play him for a possible future 30K movie adaptation? 😉
I believe that Royal Mint have just issued a license for Forge World to print money.
