Forge World Unleash New Rules & Magos For The Mechanicum
August 28, 2015 by brennon
Forge World's surprise for you this week is the addition of a new army list to the Horus Heresy collection in the form of the Mechanicum: Taghmata Army. As well as that they've produce a new HQ set featuring a Magos Macrotek Enginseer & Servo-Automata.
New Rules
The new book details the forces that you can use in the Horus Heresy and help for playing your games of Warhammer 40,000 in this game era...
"It includes background and profiles for all of the units available to the Mechnicum Taghmata, Legio Cybernetica and Ordo Reductor armies as well as support aircraft, seven classes of Knight, the Warhound, Reaver and immense Warlord Titans and introduces powerful new units such as the Ordinatus Macro Engines."
It's a quite nice looking tome and I'm sure that collectors are already considering snapping this up to make sure that their own version of the Black Library is fully stocked.
Mechanical Mastermind
On top of the new rules there is a new unit, the Magos Macrotek Enginseer & Servo-Automata, that will be able to lead your forces into battle...
"This Magos Macrotek Enginseer is armed with a power axe and servo arms and is joined by four servo-automata armed with servo-arms and close combat weapons."
I don't particularly like the Servo-Automata although I do appreciate their 'mechanical ghost' appearance. The star of the show really is the Magos though and I think that he would look great leading Warhammer 40,000 Adeptus Mechanicus too.
Will you be picking up this new book?

YES!!! Finally FW release a mechanicum book instead o making us admech lovers buy every single HH book.
That is really good news.
The new compendium book is much needed. Mechanicum rules are currently spread over five different books. The genuinely new rules here though are the rules for the (as yet unreleased) Ordinatus engines.
Oh dear.
As Justin said: I want I do want this.
I love the Automata – they have what I like to call a “techno lovecraft” look. Reminds me of a bit of Giger too, very nice. I’d love to see them do a large trygon sized model in that style.
No no, that’s fine. I didn’t need money anyway. I’ll just sit on the bare floor and eat my shoes shall I? Happy now forgeworld?!

Yes yes yes yes yes!!!!
They look really good. This is the type that could get me into this army.
the price isnt bad either – £32 for FW? On par with the GW books.
It is always good to see more Forgeworld Mechanicum stuff becoming available. I like the cyber automata, but that tech priest is really good – that is what I imagine when I read about the robed adepts of Mars in Black Library books. Combined with the rest of the Forgeworld range and GW’s rather excellent Skitari and Mechanicus ranges (especially the Magus Dominus model), it should be quite possible to create a very nice Forgeworld themed force for either 30K or 40K.
Superb.
After looking at the latest HINT and Infinity models it’s hard to get excited about these. I’ve also been on the prowl for bits to make different kinds of machines, but I think I’ll stick to chopping up necron stuff.
Looking forward for when they bring out 30 rules for the 40k Skitari/ Admech stuff as they have hinted at.
