Forge World Rain Down Artillery With The Basilisk & Medusa
November 22, 2014 by brennon
Forge World have added to the upcoming armies of the Solar Auxilia with two rather spiffing looking pieces of machinery. The first is the Basilisk and the second is the Medusa...
The Basilisk comes with a long range artillery barrage and of course it wouldn't be complete without the aid of the multi-laser in case things get dangerous up close. You hopefully won't need to use it though as you'll be shelling from far enough away!
The Medusa has even more devastating shells within its ammo supply apparently than even the Basilisk so it will be interesting to see what the rules for this are like within the new Conquest book.
Not to be left out there is an infantry shredding Knight wandering around Forge World too. The above beast of the battlefield is the Questoris Knight Styrix that comes with a graviton gun and twin-linked rad-cleansers that will be eradicating infantry in swathes. It also has that deadly claw for tearing apart vehicles if it so desires.
Some dangerous equipment and all no doubt very cool for all you Horus Heresy fans out there.
What do you think?

So these 30k artillery tanks basically have lower profile than what artillery tanks in 40k have and don’t have gun crew exposed.
Don’t forget the much higher Price tag.
Why buy one of these clunkers when you can get three sexy grav tanks from Antenocitis for the same price:

The grav tank is much cooler but doesn’t fit IG at all. That’s probably why.
I know. Just tired of the lame WWI look to all the armour… always the same chassis, with minor variations, and always a ridiculous price. Better, cheaper stuff out there. Oh well, it least it doesn’t have sponsons on the side lol.
Actually, I just something that looks almost identical, and is about the size, but has modern tracks with road wheels and return rollers. Came with a separate missile rack and a few support weapons…$3.00. When I can find two more I’ll paint the whole troop at once, and maybe crew them with Dreamforge or Alien War figures.
Each to their own, that grav tank is absolutely hideous as far as I’m concerned lol. Props for being cheaper though. I’d convert a second world war tank from someone like Warlord games, (Italeri now?) so in essence I totally agree with what you’re saying, there are cheaper alternatives out there but if you’re into the 40K fluff then these tanks are going to scratch an itch, especially as, aesthetics aside, the detailing and overall quality is very, very nice.
I think I’ll wait for the stormhammer… Pic at bottom of post http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/minotaursmechanicum-project/?topic_page=3#post-108407
That really takes the sub conscious British obsession with putting a battleship onto dry land to new heights!
Utterly bonkers but pretty cool too! >.>
Now if only GW can make them tanks for 40k, meaning new basilisk kit. The outdated current kit looks out of place with the winged skull on the shield.
I quite like what they are doing with the Solar Auxilla
yep great stuff, I’m priced out of it, but I gladly admire from afar.
