Forge World Power Up The Domitar Battle-Automata
February 20, 2016 by brennon
Forge World have powered up some more support for the Adeptus Mechanicum. The machine spirit has been satisfied and the Mechanicum Domitar Battle-Automata is ready for battle...
"...to this end the Domitar’s shock-protected and armoured frame was itself a weapon, while its blows were amplified to colossal proportions by the Battle-automata’s inbuilt gravitational hammers, allowing it to pulverise battle tanks and, as it would later prove, even Legiones Astartes Dreadnoughts in combat.
As a line-breaker, the Domitar was unparalleled in the Mechanicum’s arsenal, and its tactical flexibility was further augmented with a missile launcher armed with a variety of munitions."
Now that is a dangerous looking pile of metal. The miniature is made of resin and stands on a 6omm base. Size-wise this comes in at around the size of two Terminators standing on-top of each other, so it's pretty big.
Will you be running one of these?

I think its one of the most interesting models FW have done, mainly because i just like robots. But at £48 a piece, even I would think carefully before having a squad of five! Three, probably, but not five lol.
Very nice.
Is there a reason why the cables are running on the outside of it, rather than being built under the armour? Doesn’t make sense unless there is something in the fluff that explains it.
Why would the armour plating protect the sides of the legs, and not the front, where most of the incoming fire, and sword blows, would hit it?
A miniature, like a good book, should suspend disbelief, so things like that really ruin a model for me.
It’s part of the aesthetic of the Mechanicum @cpauls1 , but the Mechanicum probably does it to air-cool parts because their technology, while powerful, is not perfect. The Mechanicum also only care about getting things to the fight…never if they survive or not…so long as they win. 😛
Sorry @crazyredcoat. I don’t play GW games so the models have to stand on their own merit. This one doesn’t. I’m not a fan of walkers in general, truth be known, as their high profiles make them easy targets in a real, or near real, world. Finally, the price alone is enough to discourage most anyone. There’s much better out there for less.
It most likely because when they found the datachip with the plans for making this robot it was corrupt data, partial data or initial blueprints. They stick the chip in the factory reader and it runs the machines. They don’t question why it has only this or that when it should be better. It’s a part of the Imperium dogma that they should never question the layout of such things, even when it’s clear they most likely are missing important in the design. After all they are the guys that pray before flipping on a light switch and say it… Read more »
That’s how it’s portrayed in 40K (although I can only suspend disbelief so far and prefer for this supersticion not to be taken to too much of an extreme), but in the time of the Horus Heresy the Mechanicum were supposed to be a bit more scientifically-minded.
The unshielded at the front legs that several of their designs have only just pass the test for me. Over all I like the mechanicum models so much that I can just about tolerate these open legs, and say that I love the models. But it’s close!
Ummm… how do you deal with psykers and daemons then, @angelicdespot? There is no scientific or even pseudo-scientific angle to any of that. Isn’t it all essentially plot device space magic at the end of the day? Just 40K showing its fantasy roots?
Looks like I’ll have to crank up the old Mech Project…These are sooooooooo cool!!
30K Mechanicum, they just release one awesome mini after another.
That is both an awesome looking robot mini and a properly bonkers bit of kit that is entirely appropriate for the slightly unhinged Mechanicum aesthetic.
love it he looks like a gunslinger.
Time for some conversion work. Now, where might one find find some giant 28mm scale pistols and holsters…?
Couldn’t you just use those big vehicle mount bolter things, and make the holsters out of plasticard? The contraption really isn’t all very big, so they should scale well.
Good idea cpauls1.
