Forge World Kit Out The Dark Angels Legion For The Horus Heresy
September 4, 2015 by brennon
Forge World have been working on some new kits to help give your Space Marines of the Horus Heresy a brand-spanking new look. The Chapter getting an upgrade this time are the Dark Angels complete with new Helmets and Torsos...
The Bitz
The two most interesting additions to the bitz line-up are the Heads and Torsos which give you a collection of cool alternatives when it comes to building your force. While they are meant for the Horus Heresy there's no reason these couldn't show up in the 41st Millennium...
The Helmets show off a bit more of their knightly heritage while the Torsos which you can see below add to a bit more of their Native American twist from elsewhere in their Chapter where the fluttering pennants look a little like feathers.
In addition to these bits the Forge World team have also added three different sets of Shoulder Pads to the mix. You can pick up the MK II, MK III and MK IV versions of the shoulder pads some of which are featured on these completed models below.
The Marines!
Here you can see the models complete with Shoulder Pads, Helmets and Torsos alongside regular Bolt Pistol and Chainsword combinations for the weapon choices.
I think this set of upgrade kits have turned out really well and they give a nice spark of life to this very cool Legion in the Warhammer 40,000 lore. These warriors were from the first Legion to be created by the Emperor and so they have a special spot in the middle of the narrative.
What do you think of the new bitz?

THIS is what I’ve been waiting for!
Sweet!
Really loving those. I haven’t played much 40k for a while now, but I may get a pack or three of these upgrades for future DA builds.
They look ok, although I find it hard to get pumped by space marines anymore.
Also, you need to get your facts in order. There is no native american influence in the heresy era Dark angels.
The only native americands in the DA, is the small group of terminators who cleanse their homeworld of a genestealer infestation. All other deathwing color their armor white and use the adornments like feathers, in their honor.
If Brennon has been in GW long enough He probably remembers the old fluff from the Deathwing Space Hulk expansion.
While you’re right Heresy Era DA aren’t Native American in culture, being more Knightly in aspect. In the Deathwing expansion, the whole of the Dark Angel Chapter recruited from the “Plains World”. So originally the whole Chapter had a native american feel. It’s since been retconned for some reason. One of the problems with that is each gen of gamers has a slightly different memory of the fluff.
They should have kept this, it sounds AWSOME!
These look really nice, I don’t collect DA but if i did I would be very excited about these.
This might tempt me into FW-ville. Proper Dangles, painted black!
I have the dark vengence dark angel sprues lying about (i collect black legion) so this is the boot up the backside i need to start my dark angel force 🙂
Not being too critical I hope, but they look like they’ve been on a diet the waist looks very narrow
Corsets will do that.
Thinking of grabbing the heads, not too fussed about the other bits.
