Forge World Awaken The Thousand Sons Contemptor Dreadnought
April 8, 2016 by brennon
Forge World have awoken another Dreadnought from his slumber. Here we have the Thousand Sons Contemtor Dreadnought who is looking just about ready to blast away his foes and sow slaughter about the battlefield in revenge of those who forced him inside his ceramite cage...
"No longer able to fight unaided, the still-living mortal remains of a Legions greatest warriors may be interred within a Contemptor Dreadnought to continue their service.
A large number of these advanced Dreadnoughts were destroyed during the dark days of The Horus Heresy, but some survived and are still in service in the Space Marine Chapters and Chaos Space Marine warbands of the 41st Millennium."
The Contemptor truly is the best looking model of Dreadnought I reckon. The added about of movement they can get into the sculpts makes it a walking tank without the waddle factor of the ones we have see in Warhammer 40,000.
A walking tomb with a penchant for destruction is a fantastic image regardless though. Here's how big the Contemptor is alongside a normal Space Marine.
In typical Forge World style though you don't get the various options for your Dreadnought so when you buy him from the webstore he will be quite 'armless.
I imagine he could still nut and/or kick you you to death though. Black Knight style.
What do you think?

I feel a little disappointed with this one. It really has very little added to it that makes it stand out from the others. Looks like a very simple icon swap on the cad program.
This is a bit underwhelming tbh. Other legions have had much better contemptors than this.
I think it’s very nice, very clean. Slightly underwhelming – but realistic.
forgeworld got rid of the old chaos ones 🙁 ‘Last chance to buy’
is that copper-red available as a paint?
they should do a set of metallic HH paints
Silver.metallic base covered with FW Angron Red clear
I don’t always like Chaos Dreadnoghts, but when I do it’s the Thousand Sons ones.
I have to agree with others. This is slightly underwhelming compared to what other Legions have got before this. We are allowed to expect better from FW considering both high quality and high price of they products.
I quite like it in a less is more sort of way, although I think it’d have been better if the headdress had met in the middle like the 40k era Rubricae rather than looking like Berserker style ‘bunny ears’.
Think it’d look good armed with a big ass kopesh force sword 🙂
nice.
Is it just the pose? I’m hoping it’s as poseable as the other legions’ dreads but now FW are having to tone it down because the plastic contemptor’s so wooden.
Massive 1ksons fan here, hoping it’s not as bad as it looks.
Personally I really like this model. It has a lot less going on than other legion contemptors but I do not think that is a bad thing.
The one thought which I am not sure is good or bad is that the icons on leg, shoulders and chest are not very complex so may try green stuff to add design to a spare BaC contemptor
I think it looks great. If I weren’t committed to two legions already (grrrr) I would be in.
While a lot of people say it looks bare, and their might be a bit of a grain of truth in that, I like the model, and think it matches the style in their artwork well on the novel covers. I mean, there is a distinct look to the Legion, but they arent over the top with ornamentation like the Blood Angels or Emperors Children.
