The Forces Of The Emperor Coming To Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
November 1, 2022 by brennon
The Forces Of The Emperor have going to be bolstered this week by Games Workshop for those diving deeper into Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. A new book is on the way allowing you to step away from just painting Space Marines.

The Liber Imperium comes with rules for playing as the mighty Imperial Armies of the Horus Heresy. You'll find rules for running the Solar Auxilia, Sisters Of Silence, Legio Custodes and the deadly Officio Assassinorum Clades. Talking of the assassins, there are three of them to choose from thanks to Forge World this weekend.
Clade Venenum Assassin // Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
Clade Vanus Infocyte Assassin // Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
Clade Adamus Assassin // Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
These miniatures are almost the proto-assassins to those that you'll know from regular games of Warhammer 40,000. Pump your enemies full of toxins, take control of technology and use it for your own ends and cut foes to pieces traditionally with these deadly killers.
Solar Auxilia Releases
Looking at the additional releases for the Liber Imperium, we also have the Solar Auxilia that get themselves some new miniature packs. The first and most impressive of the sets for me is this one for Surgeon-Primus Aevos Jovan and the Medicae Orderlies.
Surgeon-Primus Aevos Jovan & Medicae Orderlies // Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
Aevos Jovan isn't the best of doctors but he does get the job done. Released from prison, he brings his surgical skills to the battlefield and is ready to patch up the Solar Auxilia. Jovan comes with two Medical Orderlies and there is also a poor soldier who has been taken down by enemy fire. I wonder if he'll make it through the day.
You can also deliver some serious firepower from afar with the addition of the Solar Auxilia Rapier Batteries.

The Rapier Batteries come with Gravis Multi-Lasers or Quad Launchers allowing you to shred lightly armoured infantry or put holes in something bigger. As is the case with everything in The Horus Heresy, get a fair few of these and you'll be able to melt your enemy from afar easily.
Last but not least, we have a set of Solar Auxilia that can be added to the top of tanks as gunners.

The options in the pack include two pintle-mounted Multi-Lasers and a Heavy Flamer. The design of the Solar Auxilia is absolutely fantastic and I can see why people have been so eager to get stuck in and pick up armies of them for the new edition of The Horus Heresy.
Could you be tempted to snap up these new Forge World releases?

How many rulebooks has GW slammed out since they released the Heresy game? Alas I feel no wargame should feature rules that cost hundreds of pounds to “buy in”. It’s gone from a game that was Space Marine vs Space Marine into a new version of 40K (Effectively GW are selling you 40K all over again). I liked the idea of the initial release as a “contained” version of 40K (where you didn’t need all the rulebooks and codex releases and it had some nice minis), but was wary of buying in as I felt GW was going to do… Read more »
Eh ? The Hersey game for a long time has been more than just space marine vs space marine these are just updates for the game for the other factions that have existed before. You dont need to buy the books unless you going to play that army. You only need the core rule which comes into the darkness boxset plus the army book you want to play.
Well I don’t think they’ve added any new forces in, there were always extra armies. And I think these books look like they’re just replacing the previous black books being released by Forgeworld.
Those are some nice non-space marines for HH.
I think it is a pity they did not release any plastic sets for the Solar Auxilia. They are nice models but the cost of putting an all resin Solar Auxilia army together is a bit pricey.
Good looking new figures especially the gun mounts and the meb-unit, the Vanus assassin just looks wrong I think.
Those are some of the best miniatures GW has created that last many years. They are sublime!
Hopefully the Imperial Milita PDF will come out at the same time. I need to crack on with my Guard painting Space Smurfs is dull.
I love the assassins. Can’t see them getting 40k rules but I’ll probably grab them in the hope I can use them in an Inquisitorial warband.
Well, whenever they get around to giving the Inquisition decent rules again.
