Fight For The Blood Angels Or Tyranids With Deathstorm!
November 28, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop have added the new Shield Of Baal: Deathstorm boxed set onto their website for pre-order and I'm pretty sure this is going to sell out as quickly as all The End Times stuff did so get ready.
Blood Angels go up against Tyranids led by a deadly Genestealer in this campaign set that also comes with a small rulebook for you to get to know the rules. The artwork is another amazing piece by Raymond Swanland which is awesome to see. He is certainly becoming the face of Games Workshop artistry.
Will you be getting this?

WTF are those bases??????
What does that mean????
i’m on the verge of a ragequit of this entire game!!!
carnifex on an oval???
brood lord also???
MIB on a 32mm base???
Huh… I’ve ordered a set but hadn’t even noticed the different bases, except on the broodlord. Presumably it’s yet another attempt to get customers to spend more money – in this case rebasing models.
Well I’ll be sticking to the existing base sizes for mine.
If you have pre-existing models of them just keep them as is. They are your models and they can’t say it must change. After all, terminators at one point where on smaller bases and I still keep them like that. Don’t let the MAN put you down! Fight the power brotha!!!!
A question for the 40K playing folks, and particularly the Blood Angels and Tyranids players. As I understand it, this set has two exclusive minis in it, one for each army. This isn’t a ploy unique to GW, it was recently done by Corvus Belli with Operation: Icestorm. Presumably like O:I the exclusive minis are alts rather than new types of troop. So, finally, my question is, do you feel like you need to get this so as to get the exclusive mini for your army, or does it not bother you?
no bother at all…. as a nyd fan i like this broodlord instead of the classic one!
infinity speaking it’s kinda different they make a lot of special characters usually mercenaries wich can be added in real matches but are not really needed!
Doesn’t bother me as a ‘nid player. On the whole, when I take in the gestalt that is my army(-ies) and consider modeling, customizing, paint style, basing, etc., etc., an exclusive model ‘pose’ just seems … mundane. Anniversary and holiday models, prototypes, those kinds of things, I can see the value since they’re typically showcase models and have a certain je ne sai qoui shelf appeal.
I am more disturbed by the overall Limited Production model that is being promoted in an attempt to influence collectors than I am anything billed as exclusive.
Some of those base choices are weird like having DC on 32mm bases and Garnifex on oval base..
Is it me or does the broodlord look very similar to the one from space hulk?? The only difference is the base he is standing on.
While that’s not the only difference, he’s probably based on the 3D sculpt for Space Hulik, with some modifications.
GW’s been cutting that particular corner a whole lot. It makes sense, when you just want a different pose on basically the same mini.
I’m surprised that there are only two unique sculpts in this set. Dark Vengeance had tons, but maybe I’m equating the two in a way I shouldn’t be?
Yeah, wrong comparison. Dark Vengeance was designed to be a starter set, with rules, background (or sorts), new models to kickstart a new edition, etc. This set is like the Stormclaw set that accompanied their previous 40K campaign books (Red Waagh and Hour of the Wolf, or something like that). That set also came with a selection of models that have been around for a while, but with a newly sculpted leader for each faction. I’m still not quite sure what the intention is with these sets… They’re limited edition (or at any rate, Stormclaw quickly sold out and hasn’t… Read more »
This set looked pretty awesome and made me want to get back into 40K (I haven’t played since 4th edition like back in 1999)… go to the website… LIMITED? Sold out… seriously? Sigh. Very upsetting but then I guess it saves me throwing money at GW…
