Games Workshop has now added the characters and the new book for their Gathering Storm campaign to their website. Warhammer 40,000 is unlikely to be the same after Cadia falls!

Fall Of Cadia

The new book doesn't pull any punches. As the latest White Dwarf mentioned, Cadia WILL fall and it will be taken by Abaddon. However, how it falls and just what happens as the story unfolds is an interesting story worth telling. This could mark the start of a fascinating narrative for Warhammer 40,000.

Dramatis Personae

Of course, you can't have a big epic story without some major characters and that's where the Triumvirate of the Imperium come in.

Triumvirate Of The Imperium

Leading the way we're going to look at Beliarius Cawl who is a rather devoted member of the machine cult. He has taken himself to the very pinnacle of augmentation and is now certainly more machine than man.

Belisarius Cawl

"A massive Adeptus Mechanicus Archmagos, he is armed with a master-crafted power axe, arc scourge and refractor field, as well as featuring a mechadendrite hive and scryerskull."

In the story, we apparently meet him as he is ambushed by Orks while out at a dig site looking for an important relic. There's also something aboard his ship he doesn't want falling into the wrong hands.

Next up we're looking to Inquisitor Greyfax (no relation to Major Ceefax) who has been loosed from her prison by Trazyn The Infinite (yes, a Necron) to deal with the rising problem of Chaos assaulting Cadia and its neighbouring worlds.

Inquisitor Greyfax

"Clad in ornate power armour, she is a figure wreathed in shadow and fear, armed with master-crafted power sword and condemnor boltgun. She carries psyk-out grenades and wears the Psyocculum – the Eye of the Emperor."

Her armour is archaic and so are her weapons of choice. Still, she is a devout follower of The Emperor and has trouble dealing with the almost deified Saint Celestine who has returned in the name of The Emperor, or so she says.

Maybe the Necrons have another plan for her too. Why let her out after so many years within Trazyn's strange collection?

Lastly, we turn out attention to Saint Celestine who is my favourite model of the bunch.

Saint Celestine

More Sisters of Battle would be fantastic please Games Workshop, but this is a good start. Returning with her warrior angels she seeks to cleanse Cadia of Chaos and enact the divine will of The Emperor. Whether or not she truly can stop the tide of Chaos is yet to be seen but it would be great to see this story unfold.

Getting Started

Additionally, we also got a look at the new boxed set for the Deathwatch as a Getting Started force. This could be a good pick for someone cleansing Xenos filth as the Imperium is threatened at every side.

Star Collecting Deathwatch

Led by Captain Artemis you have two squads of Deathwatch Marines and a Dreadnought to back them up when the going gets tough. They might make a good start for a larger army and a Kill Team.

Will you be taking part in the story as Cadia falls?
