Enforce The Law With A New Surly Necromunda Crew
July 29, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop is not only expanding upon the skirmishing of Warcry this weekend as they also turn themselves to the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000 and what's happening in the Hive Cities of the Imperium in Necromunda. A new crew of Palanite Enforcers are on the way to restore order to this lawless den of scum and villainy.
These fellows are what amounts to a police force within the world of Warhammer 40,000. There are a lot of options in the kit, allowing you to arm them with bolters, shotguns, sniper rifles and of course some close combat weapons for when you need to beat a few heads.
Whilst some folks have said that the yellow and black didn't work for them, I think it works to build up that 'warning' that these guys are coming and they mean business. I could see different Palanite Enforcer groups being colour coded to their various sectors though so you could have a lot of fun with what that spot colour is going to be.
I do really like the idea of doing a proper cleanup operation of the Underhive. The gangs clearly need a reminder that the Imperium is the law around here!
New Book & More
As well as the miniatures a new book is on the way called The Book Of Judgement. As well as all the rules you'd expect you'll also find additional campaign rules for those who want to start criminal rackets to try and make a few more credits.
Additional cards and more are also available which you can find HERE. I think it will be very fun to see exactly what people do with the Palanite Enforcers and what it looks like once you start throwing in some conversion work.
Imagine running a force which never removes their helmets only to find their leader has a very strange genetic disorder...perhaps one in tune with the Hive Mind?
Will you be snapping these up?

While those are nice those also look like bunch of wannabe Space Marines. What doesn’t help with that is they helmets that have some similar design elements to Primaris helmets.
No bad thing to be mistaken for a Space Marine. Your enemy would be more inclined to do what you want!
Yeah, too Space Marine-ey. Doesen’t help define their own identity
they look more like Mark IV Maximus pattern, but yes still Mariney
I really like the look of them, there is something intimidating about them, which as an authoritarian regime, is exactly what you want from your law enforcement.
Thinking of doing them up as crooked enforcers ala the corrupt judges in the Karl urban Dredd film.
I do like the yellow and black, but not sure I’d stick with it mostly due to yellow being a massive pain of a colour to paint.
As to Dredd the megacity was good in the first film and the tower was good in the second Dredd film so if someone makes a third they need to join the great bits of the two to get the Dredd the film goes want. rant over?
Someone with a better understanding of the lore than me might be able to answer a questions for me, are Enforcers and Arbites the same thing?
From Wiki…
“They are distinct and separate from the forces of the Adeptus Arbites however, who are concerned with any violations of the Lex Imperialis. Enforcers meanwhile, only have as much authority as they are granted by their Planetary Governor”
So I can live in hope that they might release more Arbites at some stage? While I like these the old style Arbites have a special place in my heart – I’d like to see what GW would do with them as a Kill Team or small faction.
Aside from Necromunda – these would work as Imperial Guard or Imperial Navy boarding parties for Space battles or Space Hulks.
They might do Arbites as a Forge World set, offering up a small array of them as individuals who will then join the likes of the Enforcers.
These will be my Tempestus Scions as I dislike that model. A few squads of these painted to go with my guard and another for Necromunda should do the trick
Arbiters riot squad’s very nice is this the primarus arbiters personally I like them I know if the nun have guns in 40K the cops should be well tooled up.
Right, that’s my Inquisitorial troopers sorted out then…
For some reason I’d thought these would be a Forge World release. That they’re in plastic from GW is a very good sign.
don’t worry they’ll probably still cost the same as a resin set 😉
These look great. Could see myself picking up a box of them
Much better weapon proportions on these than the recent sisters they showed. The boltguns look cumbersome but manageable.
The Necromunda miniatures seem to have a more ‘true scale’ aesthetic than standard 40k.
I’m wondering if these would work as replacements for space marine scouts.
Hopefully they scale okay next to primaris marines.
I wish these guys, and I know this is semantics here, were good ol Adeptus Arbites, purely so they could be used and added as a unit with rules to 40K and Kill team too. Back in the old days of Codex Witch Hunter you could include them as upgraded / modified Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. It was good stuff.
Then use as you will. For me these are Tempestus Scions, for you they are Adeptus Arbites. As long as they are obvious (don’t use 3 Palanite Enforcers and 2 Adeptus Arbites for the squad) and most players should be fine. No TO has told me I can’t sub a GW model for another GW army entry when reasonable. Don’t ask to run an Ork Kan as a Tau battle suit but human infantry for human infantry should be quite acceptable..
@tekwych Adeptus Arbites don’t exist as a playable unit in 40K right now, which was my point. There is nothing to proxy them as or counts as, as a unit as such and Scions are a bad fit, to me. Otherwise I would be using Palatine Enforcers as and calling them Adeptus Arbites ; there is nothing to use them as for Adeptus Astartes. The only thing they could be used as now, which would be crappy, are Astra Militarum Veterans. Alas they lost their option to have Carapace armour (though they can still have Shotguns and special weapons). It’s… Read more »
With Adeptus Arbites getting a full two paragraphs (and a sub header) in the new PR write up for The Book Of Judgement (https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/07/30/law-in-the-underhivegw-homepage-post-4fw-homepage-post-3/) there could be more change on the horizon than you think.
@tekywych
Wow really! Awesome! Thanks for posting that link. More the better eh? Interesting times ahead. If you told me ten years ago Custodes, Primarchs, AdMech and Genestealer Cults could be coming I would have dismissed it out of hand, but nuGW seems willing to try more stuff.
Also, please post up a project log making these guys into your own Scions! 😉
This is just a personal preference and not a criticism of the models. But, I like my skirmish troops to look like they are in a skirmish. Only two of these miniatures seem like they are engaging in combat and even then the sniper is not using his rifle correctly. All the others look like they are either bimbling around during slack-time or posing for photos.
I really like these models and can see many uses for them other than Necromunda.
